Appeal For Aid To Sled Dogs
Each year the Ontario hu-
mane Society appeals to the
general public for support for
its_campaign to provide enrerg-
envy rations for Arctic sled
dogs.
In 1364 the Society shipped
nine 'tons of dry meal in special
50 pound waterproof bags to
various Eskimo settlements in
the East and West ,Arctic. The
meal is under the care of re-
sp•onsi•b1eGovernment officer
such as school teachers and
Northern Affairs. officers. It is
only used in the case of a genu-
ine emergency to provide en-
ough feed to prevent sled dogs
from suffering the effects of
starvation.
The meal is -g nerally ship-
ped to the Arctic in July of
