After the benediction, lunch
was,ser•ved by'Mrs, D, .J. Allan,

of purchasting- three dollars
worth of toys for the Children's
Ward at the hospital.
The cultural program "Peo-
ple" was given by Mrs. Martha
Rathburn and Mrs.' Joyce Har-
ris.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Sturdy and co -hostesses, Miss
Anes Lang and Mrs. Gwen
Howlett.
Sorority met again ?n De-
cember 15th at Mfrs. Martha
Rath•burn's where the Christ-
mas party was held.

great preachers was Phillips
Brooks who became a bishop of
the ) piscopal church. Although
most of his church life was
spent in Boston, he began his
clerical career as rector of Holy
Trinity in Philadelphia.
His parishioners,wishing
him. to have the inspiration of
a trip to Europe and the Holy
Land; sent him abroad for a
year•

ence he. wrote his Sunday.

mas Eve, when I was standing
in the old church at Bethlehem,
close to the spot where Jesus
was born, when the whole
church was ringing heir after
hour with the splendid hymns,
of praise to God, how again
and again it seemed as if I
coup, (hear voices that I knew
well, telling each other of the

`Wonderful Night' of the ,Sav-
ior's birth, ,as I had heard the
year before; and 1 assure you
I was glad to shut my ears for
awhile and listen to -the more
familiar strains that came wan-
dering to me halfway round'the
world."
The.experien'ce remained with
him, and• the strains haunted/
his memory. 'Two years later,
back in America, he wrote a
paem for his Sunday School,
putting into verse the thoughts
and memoriesof that ecstatic
experience.
