eV,
Reeve Glenn Webb was just
one vote down .in the warden -
ship election' last January,
when Reeve Ralph Jewell was
successful, and Reeve J. Roy
Adair of Wingham was the
third man. In 1963, Reeve Dun-
bar lost to Reeve Walter Forbes
of Goderich Townshiip, Mr.
Webb's candidature indicates
that his deputy, James Hayter,
is deferring a try for the reeve -
ship of Stephen.,
, Long Silence
When Warden Jewell' invited
declarations, there was a long
•.silence, until' he reminded the
tnember.4: "I don't want this
job another year."
Reeve Dunbar mentioned a
possibility that ""we will lose
Roy fAdair) from Wingharn."

candidate for warden, if in
good health and returned by
my constituents in Grey, I may
say the people there think it
overdue. We have had only
two wardens sinee the turn of
the Century. I do not expect to
be in county council many years
more, but thought I -would give
this another Whirl."
"Friends in county 'cauncil

''Reev'e 'Webb. "I want to thank
them for their inctrest and sup-
pkirt I think probably. the
thing that, made, up my Mind,
hive been !peso .leven years
and prqbahly ',would 'need . to
sty another in order to see the
county history. Laughter.) If
reeve in 1065 I will definitely
be a candidate "for warden. It
basTheen a difficult decision te
make, but I vvill definitely 1,e a
candidate."
Reeve Morgan Agnew ap-
peared to be still thinking it
over .when colleagues said,
"Come on, Morgan."
Thirty Years
"It is 30 years this year since
we had a warden in Clinton,"
he said, "and I am gratified
'that some af my constituents'
thought I wotild.be, a good one.
If you decide to put me up in
that chair' with the gold chain
around my neck, I will look as
pretty as I can. We all have
!o have that one qualification—
to be a member—and I do not
know that:I will have it., thers'
are those Who doh't like me
down •there.. 1 do not doubt

bUt is tapable of hOidieidown
the job of warden; I never met
a finer body of men."
Called upon by the warden,
seven first-year members ex-
pressed themselves on the ex-
periences of 1964, and two were
absent. Reeve Kenneth Stew-
art of McKillop and Reeve Nel-
son Cardno and Deputy Reeve
Carl Dalton., said they;,. ed to
be. ba:Ft4.
Delegated by council to Pay
their compliments to Warden
Jewell Reeve Glenn Webb did
so, and added: "When you were
elected in Huron, I felt that
although the system has draw-
backs, it isstUl capable of.elect-
ing the ,Irroper man for the job.
The meinbens af 1964 .council
are very proud of you, ,and the
-
people of Colborne can be just-
ly proud, of you, and I am sure
anyone associated with youtthis
year would agree.'„'
The GaderWl Signatetari
