Ross read a poem. Mrs. Dun-
can Farrish led in prayer. The
roll call was answered with a

Goderich Boy ,Stouts 'Participate

The 4th Goderich Scout
Troop, on the weekend, partici-
pated in the Boy Scout Jam-
boree -on -the -Air through •the
fine co-operation of Mr. Wilf
Reinhart and his excellent ama-
te�ur radio station VE3BOG,
Members of the senior patrol
taking part in the Jamboree
were Hugh Aldis, Duncan Mc-
Rae, Marvin Mills and John' ten'
Hoopen. Mr. Ronald Bushell,
leader of the 4th Goderich Rov-
er -Crew,' took part in the Sun-
day afternoon session and -Mr.
Reinhart gave a brief discus-
sion on radio frequencies, ionos-
phere reflection and the effect
of sunspots on radio transmis-
sion and reception, which was
of great interest to the boys.
Twenty-six radio contacts
were made • in all and Scouts of
other regions conversed with
Goderich Scouts.
Contacts pf interest were with
stations in. Monterey Mexico,
Maldive Island, Heidenheim,
Germany, Somerset- and South-
ampton, England, along with
Alberta, P.E.I., Newfoundland
and Nova Scotia.

rich District Collegiate Institute
amassed scads of yardage and
scored twice in the. second per-
iod for a 15-6 victory over Lis-
towel, October 8.'
In. the Listowel contest, the
GQ-dgii�,~h team,gain.e.d 2,133 yards
rushing to but 50 for Listowel.
Though it capitalized Chi a
:Goderich fumble in the first
quarter for its only score of the
day, Listowel's offense, under
its own steam, was unable to
penetrate Viking terri-tory un-
til the second half. -.'
First touchdown of the. day
was scored Iby the visitors. It
came shortly after Wilkinson
fumbled a punt in his own- end -
zone. With the ball. deep in
Viking territory, Listowel's
Porter scored six on a nun. The
conversion attempt was blocked,
In the second�"quarter, John
McLean, slanted four yards off
down. His conversion put Gode-
rich in front. Minutes later,
Goderich fashioned another
drive, this one spearheaded by
Lean and Wilkinson. Wilkin-
son scored on an -eight -yard shot
over tackle. He converted, and
the half ended, 14-6.
The third quarter vas score-
less, with fumbles and,penal-
ties keeping - Goderich away
from 'paydirt. ,
In the fourth quarter, Wilkin-
son booted a' 50 -yard single.
Touchdown Nullified '
It was the last play of the
game that provided the most
excitement. is On that one Gode-
rich scored what was an appar-
ent touchdown. The score was
nullified - by, the officials, who
were divided on the question
of whether or4'not the contest
was over when Goderich scored.
In the Listowel game, Gode-
rich got 86 yards passing to 12
for their opponents. The Vik-
ings had 20 first downs to .five
for Listowel.They received •105
yards in penalties to 25 -for
Listowel.
On its centenary in 1900 two-
thirds of the city of Hull was
destroyed by a $10 million fire;
it was rebuilt partly by don-
ations from the city of Hull in
-tackle. for. G,oderieh's first touch- England.
