WMS AUXILIARY HAS ITS 80th ANNIVERSARY Knox Presbyterian ',Church Women's 1Vlissi.onary Society Auxiliary observed its 80th an- niversary at the,chureh hall on Tuesday afternoon of last week. More than 175 ladies were pre- sent including, those from WMS auxiliaries in Auburn, Blyth,- 'Belgrave, Clinton; Hensall and' Seaforth as well as .represent- ativ'es from various women's o„ anizations, in Goderich. 's. HaroldRivers presided, adevotions were led by Mrs. John Pitblado and Mrs:, A. H, Erskine. Mrs. Gordon Kaitting &aug, accompanied by Mrs. Wil- liam Cameron. Mrs Albert Taylor reviewed some historical events of the local organization. The guest speaker, Rev. Cr. L. *Royal, stress- ed the achievements of the, WM. . beginnin 1884. The�g was dedicat- ed by Mn. Riref':""' Miss Eva Somerville was pianist for the hymns: Miss Somerville, past presi- •dent • of the Presbyterial, Miss Lily MacArthur, who served as deaconess in.. various places across Canada, Mrs. Fred Weir, a WMS member for 50 years, and Miss- Mary Gordon, who served at the Crowsta•nd Indian boarding school near Kamsack; Saskatchewan, 1912-1916, were each presented .with. a corsage. Refreshments • were . served, With M•i • Somerville and .Miss MacArthur pouring tea, and Mrs. Fred Weir cutting the an- niversary cake. Greetings were. brought from Huron Presbyterial by Mrs.. Wesley Bradnock, Auburn, the president, and from the Hamil- ton -London Synodical by Mrs; O. G. J, Curry presiding. "„ Due to unforeseen circus stances, the date for the penny fair and tea has been post- poned te a later date. Die prizes will he on display, as in previous years, to Denomme's flower shop. Final arrangements were made to attend the spring re- gional meeting of. hospital aux- iliaries in Clinton. Registra- tion and luncheon will be held in the Officers' Mess at the RCAF ' station ' followed by a tour of Clinton Public Hospital and _a business meeting ,in the nurses' residence. The May meeting of the aux iliary will be on May 25th in- stead, of the 18th because of the holiday.
