The Goderich Signal -Star, Thursday, atOber 17th, 1963
For the last few weeks we
have been devoting a lot of ink
to the local collegiate football
squad. The reason is certainly
valid enough as the GDCI Vik-
ings won last week again and
gave them three wins against
no defeats. two weeks ago
they handed Wingham their
first gridiron defeat in four
years.
• In beating Wingham they
, rolled up a total of 243 yards
on the ground. Last week
against Clinton they outdid this
mark by over 40 yards. In the THE BIGGEST sources of reven-

they executed these two funda-

downfall.
From the opening kick-off,
Clinton was held on three downs

The 35 -year-old Howe will be
playing his 18th NHL season in
1963-64. He has stated that he.
hopes to play at least 20 years
which is the league -record for
longevity. Richard played 18
year with Montreal before re-
tiring when he •was 38 in 1960.
"Rocket" 544 record was
considered for a long while un-
breakable. A typical statement
on the subject of Howe's ap-
proach of this,. standard was
et" Richard's all-time record of
544 goals in regular season
play. Gordie's league -leading
total of 38 tallies last year gives
him a mark of 540 goals going
stay until it is on paper for this
season, not last.

they are going to do this year.
By the same token, before we
start praising others, lets also
wait until we see who can live
up to at least " what' they, did

The big red teani from Clin-
