Club here and brought greetings from the Ro- tarians. of his city, frequently bombed by .British and Can- adian aircraft h World War It, Commenting ulion the large number of Germans in Canadian centres, Mr. Mutzelfeldt, a naval architect, said "it would be bet- ter if some Canadians came to Germany, to' Cuxhaven; carpen- ters, shipbuilders and black- smiths would right away have lots to do." Attended G.C.I.. Equally .interesting, in a dif- ferent way, was a visitor from Grand ` Prairie, Alberta, whose family was well known in the Auburn district. Donald Pat- terson iso a brother of the late Roy Patterson, county engineer of Huron, and a son of former county engineer Donald Pat- terson. He attended Goderich Collegiate (where Reg. Elliott poked him from behind with a ruler and in turn got whammed with a treography book) and left these parts in 1904. Mr. Patterson finds few here whom she knew in schooldays, but met some old friends at" the Jaws Church Memorial service last Sunday. President Harry Sturdy also welcomed `Fred •Thwaites of Londcih East club, who often makes up attendance here. First Meeting It was the first meeting of the neW Rotary yeat•, and Mr. Sturdy, who has held office only part of the 1962-63 year, began a full term. The recent elec- tions made Robert Nephew first vice-president and Dan Murphy second vice-president. Robert Chapman continues as secretary, Okal Day as treasurer, and com- mittee conveners are "Bud" Newman, Roy Mitchell and "Bud" Worthy. The new president of Rotary International, Carl P. Miller of Los Angeles, also spoke td the club at its --first, meeting during his regime. Ile spoke by means of a record sent Presid`bilt• Sturdy, and -the voice was very clear. He said, in part: "We must keep ,ourselves abreast of the times in a world constantly 'changing. Use your influence in improving interna- tional understanding and good will for peace. We have more than .a - half=million • potential `spacemen' ip Rotary in 128 Our Apologies We would like 'to apologize in advancop for not being able to give our usual good service in the few weeks ahead. The reason for this is two -fold. During the last week in June we were busy Setting up our booth at the trade fair and then we had to man it. This meant we could not get out and do the service work that always keeps coming. On top of this we are moving right away to our new Iocatibn on the Square (formerly Dominion) and this too will take many hours from our daily work day. We hope through all -this confusion you will bear with us and we -.assure you that -we--wilt handHe--your---service as fast as we can.
