LaSt.,,Sattisrleynight we were
on hand for a hockey game that
'Produced not the finest haekey
in The world but you would get
sonaie. smiles gut of it, • The 91d
Timers; who got , ;together to
form a hockey e1#tb, played a
team from liCtirClinton. ,The
Clinton team yt'as•.larely macs'
up of younger la +ers but wets
so, the Goderich- Old Tamers
were certainly not humiliated.
The Old Timers have banded
togetheras they love .to..lay
the game and feel that people
will get a little amusement out
of watching them Fplay. They
hope to play games around the
country for charity. Apparent
ly they have games arranged
against the Lions Club and QPP.
The dates for these 'contests
have yet to be • confirmed and
a..s,
we will keep you informed as
to when they are to come up.
We assure you that whatever
the charge at thte gate you will
get your money's worth.
Last year there seemed to be
a great deal of fuss . over the
fat that there was no evening
adultz,skating. Well this year,
Thursday night has •been set
aside for the adults and last
week a .grand total of 13 people
showed up to exercise , their
skating muscles.
There must be a great .many
people .who still enjoy putting
on the blades and taking a few
spins around the ice. If so,
Thursday :night is the night
for you. .

trait Bantam and Midget teams
will he making their annual
junket to our town. There will
be two teams ,playing from the
Motor City. The Midgets go at
7.30 and the Bantams at 8.30.
To round out the evening,- the
Juveniles will be,,,, ,layin . Strat-
ford at 9,30. Allan all,_it would
be a nice evening for those
'who like. hockey.
Detroit has invited' us to brictg
two or three teams to their
city later in December. They
havearranged to take• `all play-
ers and officials from Goderich
to a Red Wing game. A little
support of the games on Satur-
day night would be a nice ges-
ture' of thanks, at least on the
part of the parents of the boys
who will be .making the week-
- end trip to Detroit.

" Latest statistics released by
the ORA office for the,Central
Junior B League were received
'recently. There would seem
4o be a mistake in them °as Ken
Thompson 'is` not listed in the
point -leading department. Pete
Loveless is lodged in second'
• place with 19 points, Bowness,
is in .seventh along with ,Leduc
with 10 points. Graham Sinclair
is in sixth ,place . in the goal
_, tending department but, he has
played two games more than
the Owen Sound netminder who
is tops with a goal less per
game.
McClure is holding up his end
since the last statistics were
:released. He is averagin; four
• -aninutes per game in the penalty
box. From what we' have wit-
nessed at home games most' of
'them could 'probably have been
very easily avoided. •
We just want to mention that
those who missed last Friday
.night's hockey - game were very
Much the losers. The boys have
looked quite good in all their
' home games and they deserve
your support.
An. average• attendance of 800
per game is needed to break
even and in the last two games
the average has been .450. In_
the past we' have heard the
excuse that it isn't a local team.
• Well this. year there, are .six
local boys on the team and
those of last year are no stnan g-

The fact that ,the boys are.
losing a few ' hockey games
should not be too- discouraging,
if you bear in mind that " most:
of the team members are just

Vern Skep.ch was a happy
young man when he scored his
first goal last Friday night. lie
made .sure that he got the puck
as 4 memento of his first Junior
B score.
Vern, by the 'way, has been
coming along extremely well
and looks better in every game
he plays. , Cone thing that has
been said by many fans about
Vern is the fact that he uses
his head. If he can become a
stronger skater there will be
nothing stopping him• from bet-
ter things in hockey.

SIFTOS WIN 1, LOSE 2;
WATERLOQ, HERE FRIDAY
A small crowd of 651 fates
witnessed a very pleasing brand
of hoekey Friday night as the
Siftos never were behind in
their 7-4 win over the Kitchener
Greenshirts.
. The Siftos started their dom-
ination of play right from the
opening whistle. Rarely did
they ease up onOtheir back -
checking and forechecking long
enough to let the Greenshirts
get a sustained attack going.
Goderich scored only one goal
in the first period but this was
due to the fantastic play of
Wunder in the Kitchener net.
The young net minder was
superb all night as he kickei
out a total of '46 shots.
BRIDGE SCORES
Seven tables were, in play
when the Duplicate Bridge Club
met on Monday evening.' Win-
ners
inners and their scores were as
follows: Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Hunter, 793 points; Mrs. A.
Galbraith and Mrs. R. M. Aid's,
69 points; Mrs. J. V..Thomas
and Mrs. R. Wheeler, 67%
points; Mr. F. S. Curry and Mrs.
J. Sully,i 66 points.

wise routine; • The regular
monthly accounts were passed.
Chairman George MacEwan pre-
sided, with Commissioners Wil-
liam Mills, Gerry Whaley,
George Filsinger and His Wor-
ship Mayor E. C. Fisher present.
Loveless scored the first Gode-
rich goal at the .7:58 mark ul
the opening period. This was
one of the very few games this
year that Goderich j0mped off
to an early lead and.. it seemed
to ive them as. lift.
L ven though the locals were
far outplaying and outslltatit,g
the•Kitchener lads they couldn't
seem to add any more goal.o .te
their total :until 6:29, This goal
came only a minute after Kitch-
ener had tied it up. The locJ
goal was an excellent effort •m
the part of Snell, Thompson and
McClure who .scored from the
N.MVa.'.•Vt
In the „ second period Kitch-
ener changed their style in an
effort to get on top of the
Siftos. They spread their for-
wards just inside their . own
blueline. Instead of getting the
quick breaks they found that
the Siftos determined checking
kept them even more • in their
own end.
The most determined play in
the second waste• displayed oy
Arthur, Bowness and Graham
All lines played well however
as the second period produced
some of the finest hockey the
fans have witnessed in 'a couple
of seasons. Goderich scored
their third goal in the second
when Vern Skeoch got his first
goal of the season from Bob
Leduc. •
The final period moved at an
extremely fast clip and at one
point in the period three line
changes were made by both
sides between whistles. -
In the period, Kitchener scor-
