Sunday school room with Mrs.
K. Trewartha in charge. Mrs.
Trewartha. gave the call 'to wor-
ship and Tommy Lobb read the
Scripture. Mrs. Trewartha
gave the. meditation and Karen
McClinchey led in prayer. John
Ginn read a ...poem and Mrs.
Gerry Ginn read, a ppem. The
business was conducted by
Nancy Ginn and Janice Tre-
wartha was the secretary. Ern-
est Lobb received the offering.
Mrs. Ginn led the children in' t
repeating "The Golden Keys"
and also. led in a game. The
study period was taken. by Mrs.
Trewartha with the seniors and
Mrs. Ginn with the juniors. The
World Friends were given out
by Leonard Lobb.

BOWLING TOURNAMENT
A Goderich rink skipped by
Earl Allison won the Invitation-
al Mixed Trebles Bowling Tour-
nament at Stratford 1, on Wed-
nesday of last week, with a
score of three wins and a plus
of 19. Other members on the
winning team were Pete Bisset
and Mrs. Earl Allison.
A Waterloo rink .placed sec-
ond while third spot was taken
by a Goderich 'threesome skip-
pedR by ,Archie Townsend with
three wins and a plus of 11.
OBITUARY
ROBERT A. M. STRAUGHAN
After ' an illness of several
months, Robert Arthur Millerd
Straughan, 79, of Benmiller,
died at Alexandra Hospital . on
Tuesday. Born in Colborne
Township, he farmed there all
-his life. He had been a mem-
ber of Morningstar Masonic
Lodge fear more than 50 years
and -.for- almost •:50- years of- the
C.Q.F.
Surviving are his wife, the
' former Olive Cluff; a son, Ben-
. sort, clerk of Colborne Town-
ship; daughters, Mrs. Kalmer
(Helen) Dawson, of Dungannon,
and Mrs. Orville (Betty) Stan-
ley, of Clinton; a brother, Ben,
of Minneapolis; sisters, Mrs.
Howard Sturdy, of Goderich
Township, and Mrs. Harry Mc -
Ng, of Toronto,•
'The funeral service will be
at 2 p.m., Friday at the Lodge
funeral home. Interment will
'be in Colborne cemetery.
HUGH°PRESTON STRANG
After .an, illness of some time,
Hugh. Preston Strang, of Tor-
onto, but a member of a well-
known former Goderich family,
died Monday in Toronto General
Hospital.
Born in Goderich, he was the
son of Dr. H. I. Strang, for
many years principal of Gode-
rich Collegiate Institute, and
Mrs. Strang. , After attending
GCI, he went to Toronto as a
young man and graduated as a
druggist. For years he was
engaged in the drug business
brit retired some years ago. He
was a frequent visitor to Gode-
rich and always followed closely
sports activities and happenings
in Goderich generally.
• He was married to the form-
er Helen Dougall, originally of
Barrie, who survives him in
addition to two sisters, Grace,
of Toronto, and ' Jessie (Mrs.
F. H. Hewson); of Niagara -on -
the Lake. Four other sisters,
Helen, hose, Margaret and
Mabel, predeceased him.'
The funeral service was held
Tuesday evening at the Earl
Elliott funeral home, Dover-
court road, Toronto. Interment
was in Barrie Union cemeter
pesday morning.

aunt, Mrs. Philip Gour, in Ba-
tavia.

ton and family visited with Mrs.
David MacMurchy on Sunday.

of the bride-to-be, for Miss
Donna Gardner. The address

Bible Society was guest speak-
er at Ashfield Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. The Sacra-
ment of the Lord's' Supper 'will
be held next Sunday, with pre-
paratory services on Friday
evening.

Mrs. Richard Brown
The death occurred in Kin-
cardine hospital of Annie Robb,
widow of the late Richard
Brown. Deceased was born in
this community and lived most
of her life here wail she mov-
ed to Ripley some years ago.
She was in her 80th year. She
is survived by one daughter,
Mrs. Merton. Avery, and several
grandchildren.

Monday of . Mrs. Louisa Alice
Smith, mother of Mrs. Samuel
C. Andersonr of Goderich, after
an illness of several years. The
former Louisa Alice Cowan was
a daughter of -the late David
Cowan and Elizabeth Campbell
and was born at Mayfair, Ekfrid
Township, Middlesex Coil/Ay, on
• March 18, 1874.
• She was married on Septem-
ber 6, 1899, to Dr.. Colon E. J.
Smith, who practised dentistry
in London for 'many years. He
• predeceased her on April 19,
1945. Mrs. Smith came to Gode-
rich from London in 1947 to re-
• side with her daughter, Mrs.
Anderson. When in London,
Mrs. Smith was active in Metro-
politan United Church Sunday
