Fire of undetermined origin
destroyed a small frame* build-
ing, 10' by 20' in the County
yards on the Maitland River
flats, south of the site of the
old bridge last Wednesday even-
ing. The fite was .first dis-
covered about 11 p.m. by Mrs.
Amelia Nivins who called Mr.
Bert Craig, the -county foreman
iit the Auburn County garage.
He, in turn, summoned Mr. Al-
vin 'Plunkett, the Auburn lire
chief, and they both went to

western city to have it there for
the beginning of the school

and air. Kenneth Godwin, of
Preston. Mr. Peters and Miss
McCullough will be married'
next Saturday at Red Deer,
Alberta, at the First Baptist
Church'. Mr. Peters' home is
at Claremont, Ont., but h -e, will
commence his theological stud-
ies at McMaster University this
fall. Miss Kostick, who is a
leacher at North York, will be
a guest at the wedding but Mr.
Godwin will continue on to the
West Coast and visit the World's
air before returning to the
'University of Waterloo. Follow-
ing the marriage), they will re-
turn to Ontario in the car which
his parents drove to Western
Canada.
, Her 88th Birthday
Mrs. George Hamilton cele-
brated her 88th birthdal, by a
family gathering at her home
on John street last Sunday.
Those present Were her brother,
Lorne Wilson, and Mrs. AVilsoft,
of Brucefield; her sisters, Mrs.
.Villiam Chapman, and Mrs.
Arthur Rutledge, and Mr. Rut-
ledge, of Seaforth; also her
cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Howard
coodfellow, Mr. Boroen GOod-
fifflowi Mrs. Sarah Hembly and
Mrs. Lottie Itoover, all of Noble -
ten, and Mr. Jack i4 Kellum, of
Kleinburg. Mrs. Hamilton is
the oldest living native of the
village and is the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. W. D.
Wilson. She attended the Au-
burn school and also spent two
years at the God^rich High
School. On January 2, 1901,
she was married to the late
George Hamilton and went to
Th, :west coast to make her
home in Dawson City. She wait-
ed in Vancouver until the boats
went to the Yukon. She relates
many of her pioneering ex-
periences in that country and
follows with -interest the cele-
brations being held theie this
year. In 1910, Mr. and Mrs.
