NOTES 41.1sTI) COMMENTS,
TIM Tines desires to cell the at ten-
don of its numeroue readers to the eoriee
of lettere appearing in its coltimns from
week to week ott the "Mining Interests
of Canada," by W. H. Lynch, Esq., of
Spokane Falls, Waal. Ter., formerly of
Ottawa. That the subject treated in
the lettere is of largo importance to the
Canadian public, and nue in Which the
popular interest ie steadily increasing
goes without saying,. The Writer, al-
though he modestly disclaims the char-
acter of an expert, ha5 evidently taken
the palm to thoroughly inform himself
on the subjects of which he writes, and
is withal possessed of a graceful arid
pleasing style which renders his accounts
extremely entertaining reading,. Even
those who may be already m possession
of the facts discussed will find profitable
employment in perusing the letters,
while to the great majority it is safe to
assume they will convey much usebd
information concerning this new indus-
try and of those engaged therein. Al
ready two heve appeared in these
columns. These will be followed by
others in succeeding numbers.

The fact that Canadian cheese is eag-
erly sought after in England and com-
mands a good price, while for Canadian
butter there may be said to be no de-

latter article. Of thecae we exported

treated. Several •enhibitioua hen° al-

that is, our cheese export amounted in
value to more than twenty-six timesthat

to be any ggod reason why Canadian
butter should not be in as great demand

speaking figures it will be readily con-

the resultof a severe heating, on the 1st
inst, was found in the granary of his
barn, hanging from a cross bar which he
had placed in poeition with the evident
inteet orcommittingeuicide life having
been extinct for some Lours. 'On July 1st
Mr. Ending upent the day at Grand Bend
and returning home in the evening was in-
formed by his neighbor Carl Brinker that
his bull had strayed into his (Brinker's)
Acid and requeeted to go and take him out.
Mr. Ending went to tette his bull hotue
and getting into a dispute over the bad
condition of Brinktr's fence" it is alleged
that Brinker, who is it muchyounger man
than Eading, gave him a severe beating
and left him in an uriconscious condition.
Mr. Kadin in the course of an hour or so
recovered himself eufficiently to return to
his house where he bad since been confined
to hie bed under the care of a doctor. It
is thought that Mr. Kading's mind was
somewhat disordered by the severe beating
which he had. received, as he appeared to
lee in continual dread of further violence
at the hands of his former assailant, and
this tOote of mind finally resulted in the
sad occurrence ot Saturday. Oa t hursday
last we understand Mr. Kading instruct -
lawyer Collins, of Exeter, to take proceed-
ings against Brinker, for damages for the
assault, and the fact Mr. of Eading being
dead it is not likely that proceedings wM
be staid.
