L.A. Church Parade
The Ladies' Auxiliary to the
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch
420 of the Blyth ,district, which
--includes Auburn,,held their an-
nual church parade to Knox
United Church last Sunday
morning. Aided by members of
the Legion, more than 50 march:
ed to. the church under the
direction .of the parade marshal,
Comrade Harry Gibbons. The
parade was led by Comrade Mrs.
Arthur McClure carrying the
Ladies' Auxiliary flag and Corn
rade Mrs. Thomas Cole carry-
ing the Queen's colors. ' Rev.
Charles ,,Lewis officiated for this
special service and the service
of song was underthe direction
of , the church organist, Mrs.
Norman Wightman. Soloist was
Mr. Elliott Lapp, who sang "One,
Sweetly Solemn Thought." The
Scripture lesson was read by a
member of the Legion, Comrade
Clare Vincent, of Londesboro.
Rev. Mr. Lewis chose the text,
"The Lord is my Shepherd," for
his inspiring message which he
delivered to the veterans of
both World Wars. He told that
through this ancient Hebrew
song many have found peace in
both. wartime and peace time,
through the power in the mes-
sage this Psalm can bring. He
said that it gives strength to
the grieving, .and brings cheer
to the lonely. Many pegple
have lest the gigantic purpose
of living today, said the speak-
er, and the atheism of despair
is in many hearts. He conclud-
ed his address by telling the
congregation that indifference its
the stumbling block of our time:
because al lare ttio busy, they
lose sight of where they should
be going, but if the Power of
God is asked, Pentecost can
come again to the world: The
