the income from premiums in
1947 was $30,650 in comparison
to $93,239 in 1961. In 1947,
losses Were $24,000 whereas
they' were $55,000 in 1961. The
:surplus in 1961 Was $207,666 in
.comparison to $156,700 in 1947.
Mr. Durnin Phillips, secre-
tary -treasurer, gave the.minu'tes

Mr. Phillips pointed out that
-while the surplus for every $100

situation for a company' is to

one hundred of insurance in
force:. For the first time in some
years,' the company gained a
little in reinsurance during the
year. This past year the direct
losses have been normal with
heavier losses than usual on
cdwellings • and contents. " Num-
erous small -fires- have occurred
caused by cigarettes, heating
and faulty, wiring. The ac-
counting - firm, ,Touche, Ross,
Bailey and. Smart was re-ap
