It , was acclamations right
across the board for the nom-
inees when Goderich Township
held its nomination meeting at
the Town Hall, Clinton, Friday
afternoon.
Chairman- of the meeting,
which saw a smaller crowd than
usual, was George C. Ginn, sr.
Reeve Walter J. Forbes was
given another temp of office by
the ratepayers. Reeve Forbes
reviewed fhe work of County
Counyil. Also given a second
ternf was Doput,r:Reeve Grant
-H. Stirling. who last year was
the Township's first- Deputy -
Reeve in more than 60 years.

not occur. Instead, only a few

It's really something today
when a town can have a team
without having to import play-
ers. In 1924 I was a member
of a Goderich baseball - team
which reached thefinals of the
O.B.A. against Oakville but as
time went on the team was
bolstered with many, imports.
At one time Ernie Pridham and
I were fhe only locals on the
team. - I hope this Goderich
softball team of home brews
will stick together and go on to

was moved by Bill Grace.
Chairman Larry Aldham re-
viewed the team's record in its
first year in an organized
league.
A ' trophy was presented to
Stan Doherty, who was judged
the most valuable player to his
team by the members of the
team. Mr. Don Goddard was
presented with a trophy for
having the highest batting aver-
age. Tribute was paid to the
team's coach, Jim Queen, and,
on behalf of the team, a gift
was presented to him by Ron
Carter who said that Queen was
"The most inspirational factor
on our team." A gift was pre-
sented by Chairman Aldham . to
Bill Kirkey • for his all round
enthusiastic help in various
ways to the team.
Thanks were also expressed
to the - following for contribu-
tions to the welfare of the team
in - various ways: Councillor May
Mooney, George Ellis, "Mac"
MacDonald, George Currell,
Bert Sanderson, Ben Chisholm,
C. F. Chapman and Justice
Frank Donnelly.
The evening's program was

DRIVER CHARGED AFTER
CRASH ON HIGHWAY 21
Police reported a ear crash
early Sunday morning on High-
way 21 between 'ear's driven by
William J. -Bowler, of Goderich,
and James Wilks, of RCAF,
Clinton.
Mr. Bowler was stopped, wait-
ing to make a left hand turn
when the Wilks car crashed into
him from behind, police said.
Mr. Wilks has been charged
with careless driving, according
to the police.
