A family gatahering is' planned for the birthday. Also 91 on Sun- day will be Thomas Drennan„ sr., who has been a patient at Alexandra Hospital since last February. Before that he, lived with his son, Thomas J. Dren- nan, St. George's Crescent. Mr. Drennan, sr., is a native of Ashfield Township. This charge- had been laid in March of this year in connection with breakins of summer: cottages °near Kintail. The crown's evidence was of a general nature. This was found where Laws had ,been staying for a few days. Constable Sims, a witness for the. crown,... said ..that some 14. cottages had been broken into about one mile west of Kintail. Nothing of a valuable nature was missing from any of the cottages. Gordon'Chapman, 21, of East street, was remanded one week by Magistrate Glenn Hays, Q.C., on a charge,, of breaking and entering with intent, on Sep- tember 30. The offence occur- red at the CNR freight office. Kenneth" Canwell, of ' Gode- rich, had been convicted on two previous, occasions of having beer in a place other than his residence and was fined , $80:00 and costs. Canwell fled when Goderich police eattempted to stop him on September 5. In his escape, a bottle 'fell from his_ pocket. At this point, Mag- istrate Hays quipped "Was it a 'bottle of coke?" but it was pointed mit it had been a bottle of beer. He was later arrested and charged. Raymond Joseph Lang, of London, was charged and con- victed of possession of counter- feit rrumey. Lang was arrested at Bluevale by an QPP con; stable.. The school, ..area is comprised -Od 'fiditiesg schools are at Holmesville with 42 pupils of grades 1; 2 and 3 in the old school and 73 pupils of grades 4 to 8 in the t Wo room modern school. At S.S. No. 1, there are 37 pupils and the other one -room schools are also overcrowded, , it is stated. It is pointed mat that educa- tional authorities regard 30 pupils as a normal number for an elementary grade room. Of- ficials are said to feel that a two -room addition to the new school at Holmesville would solve the present overcrowding problem.
