mer months many members of
the Golden Gate Club have as-
sisted Mrs. Young in the work
of the garden and the prepar-
ation of the produce for sale.

QUPS HOLD FALL MEET
Leaders of C.Q.C. and Ex-
plorers' groups met Wednesday
evening of last week in . St. An-
drew's, Pre,byteriatl Church,
Blyth, for their fall conference
with Miss Clare Haines, the
leader. Miss Haines is the
W.M.S. worker for 'Children's
Groups in the Synods of Hamil-
ton and London. The 25 dele-
gates were ipresent from -°Hen-
sall, Goderich, Teeswater, Aub-
urn and Blyth.

the church. Miss Haines gave

of the Huron County Advisory
Board, district representatives
of the C.N.I,B., gave interesting
information. Those speaking
were: Ed. Wheeler, district
field secretary; L. B. Carroll,
assistant field secretary; Miss
Laramie, home teacher of
trades, Braille, typing an crafts
for the blind.
Miss Laramie told how the
residents of Tweedsmuir Hall,
London, were taught recreation
as well as useful occupational
work. They , are able to play
bingo, cards, checkers, etc.
Mlle. Evelyn Dandry, a young Mr. Wheeler stated that 'the
Parisian actress, is hostess of
the Canadian -produced show for
women, Mademoiselle de Paris.
Filmed in Paris, this Wednesday
afternoon program is one o
the new shows offered in CBC.

driving in Goderich on Sep-
tember 9, George Vanstone was

Hays last Thursday. The driv-
er's license was suspended for
one month. �
Stanley Fenner, Goderich,
was fined, $15 and costs, or
three days, when he 'pleaded
guilty ' to careless driving in
Goderich on September 9.
Kenneth Calhoun, 19, R.R. 1,
Port Albert, was remanded in
custody for one week for sent-
ence when he pleaded guilty to
attempting to defraud Seaforth
Motors, Seaforth, on September
16. He . issued a - worthless
cheque for $155 as a down-pay-
.ment on a car.
Randal Alexander McDonald,
17, R.R. 1, Goderich, was fined
$35 and costs, or five days in
jail, when he pleaded guilty
to unlawfully obtaining liquor
in McKillop Township on Sep-
ternber 21.
John Alvin Fowler,'
Clinton,
who pleaded guilty to being in-
toxicated in a public place in
Goderich on September 24, was
remanded out of custody under
a_ bond of $100 to 'appear be-
fore Magistrate Hays for sent-
ence on October 12, on condition
that he report to 'the' police at
Seaforth once every 24 hours. `

The W.A. of „North. Street
United Church met in the lad-
ies' parlor with Mrs. R. W.
Hughes, the president; conduct-
ing devotions. The devotional
theme was "No man can serve
,two masters." Mrs. Grace Don-
nelly read the Scripture with
Mrs. R. W. Hughes offering
prayers. Miss IVlary Buchanan
played for the singing -of hymns.
Mrs. R. W. Hughes presided
for ,the business meeting. Mrs.
Harold Young read the secre-
tai'yrs report and Mrs. Harry
Worsell the treasurer's report.
Mrs. Walter Kingswell read the
,correspondin,g secretary's report
and Mrs. Harold Bettger re-
ported .for the parsonage com
mittee. Mrs. Carlton Worsell
reported on a banquet coming
up in October,
Red Bags for the third quart-
er were handed in.
The W.A. were very 'pleased
to: receive, as a gift, a table-
cloth from Miss Mae Davies in
memory of her sister..
Plans were discussed regard
ing the annual bazaar _to be
held in November,
Mrs. Wm. Moorhead, presdent
of the afternoon W.M.S., ex-
tended an invitation to the
ladies- to attend their Thank -
offering meeting Monday after-
noon. The meeting closed with
the benediction and a social
hour followed. _
