Young Canada Week Briefs
The 12th annual Young Can-
ada Week was a well-run and
successful tournament. Next
comes "The 13th." A great deal
of credit is due to the personnel
of the many different groups of
operations who made the tourna-
ment, just completed, the sue -
cess 'it was. They performed an
unselfish and devoted service to
is commltnitY • and to the
youri'gsters who participated,
not to mention the parents of
the pee wees.
Mr. G. J. McKinnon, of Chi-
cago, who left Goderich as a
youth in 1911, was back again
for the tournament, taking many
pictures, copies of which he
sends to many persons who ap-
pear in the pictures. It is his
hobby and lAg getsa big kick out
of ° it. On Friday evening, Mr.
McKinnon attended -a.: k.ing...of
Boy Scouts at North Street Un-
ited Church and showed them
pictures of a Boy Scout Jam-
boree held in the U.S.A.
Frequent winners of the "AA"
championship here, a Toronto
team took it: again this year.
This time it was the Dileos. In:
cidentally, the managers and
.coaches, of both- Toronto teams
competing her : gave friendly
advice to their players before
their arrival. They were told
that Toronto teams are not al-
ways particularly popular in
small towns. Fop this reason,
they were advised to act like
little gentlemen on all occasions
while, here to leave a favorable.
impression. And this they diti!

The ' Torpnto Star sports writ-
er who covered the young Can-
ada Week games here, John
MacDonald, provoked consider-
able comment with his story on
the front page ' of Saturday's
Star. In it, he quoted the coach
of the Toronto Dileos' as saying
that "The wag peer wee- hockey
is organized now, it's too tough
on the players and coaches." He
added that the Toronto coach
said he will never guide another
pee wee team because his play:
ers are being ,burned out of the
tender age of 12. MacDonald
stated that the Toronto team
up to last Saturday had played
57 games with 'still a, month
