the Auburn district saw large -
balloons floating over the Count-,
garage. These balloons or kites.
filled with hydrogen, carried an
aerial cord' fastened to them to
test the height needed to get

Rev. Arthur J. Bowhrick. had

couver following a short illness
in his 86th year,, -
R_ ev A.- Y l3 wbrick was born
in England and began his
preaching career at the -age of
16 years. Soon afterwards., he
came to Canada, in 1892, and
spent four years in the Auburn
area, working for the late Mr.
John Hoare on his farm. ,north
of the village. .
While working in the Auburn
area, he received a .letter stat-
ing that his parents were going
to Manitoba to homestead. 'He
left for the Canadian West and
ioined his parents. The super-
intendent of the Baptist Mission
Much credit was given to the
Blyth Fire Brigade in saving a
barn ten feet away from the
farm home of Mr. and . Mrs.
Harold Carter when two other
biiildings burned about 2 a.m.
on Monday. These newly con-
structed buildings, housing the
80 pigs which were burned to
death, were 40 by 60 and 80
by 40. Later on, about 9 a.m
they answered a fire alarm at
the Home of Mr. Simon Smit
