which was adopted :-“Whereas for a num-
ber of yore friendly relations have existed
between us aud the largo and iufluential
Methodist Church of Canaria, and which
have especially in late years been strength-
ened by reoiproeal vleits of the represent-
atives of the two bodies ; and, whereas on
this occasion the delegate from that respec-
ted ahnrch bas brought us an interesting xo !,
port and the friendly greetings of his choral)
and instructed as to the effect that their
General Conference has appointed a com-
mittee to confer with a similar committee
appointed by us concerning steps to a closer
nnion in spirit and organization, therefore:
Resolved that we rejoice in the prosperous
condition of our sister church. whose begin-
ning was iudeed small and insignificant, but
which bas become the largest protestant
church in Canada,whieh condition of things
is principally ascribed to the union of var-
ious Methodist bodies ;-Resolved that we
will fnrtber endeavor to become more close-
ly united, and desire, God willing, that
closer organic union may taxa place ;-Re-
solved that we acknowledge the appoint-
ment of a committee by the Methodist Gen
eral Conferouce to act in thie matter, and
that this body appoint a committee of seven
to meet and confer with the aforetaid com-
mittee in reference to a basis of union ;-
Resolved that we do not, however, feel jus-
tified to take decisive steps in this matter,
without first ascertaining the advice of our
own General Conrmness."
On the arrival of Bishop Bowman, the
following resolution was adopted :-"Where
as we again have the joy and privilege of
greeting our dear brother in the Lord, Bish-
op T. Bowman in our midst, therefore -Re
soh ed, that we hereby express our thanks
to lrod for the Bishop's sale arrival and pie -
Bence among us ; that we hea-tily welcome
Bisbop Bowman and assure him our Chris-
tian confidence es a brother and bishop cf
the church, and pray that his sojourn
among us may be blessed. and that God
may continua to support and strengteen
him in his difficult office."
Thereupon the Bishop took the chair and
add, esoed the conference briefly.
The following were elected delegates to
the General Conference :-J. Umbech, S L
Umbaoh,, M. L. Wing, and 8. N. Moyer,and
end the following alternates :-D. Kreh and
Th. Hauch.
Resolved tbat a collection be raised at
every appointment before the 1st Sept. to
defray the travelling expenses of the dell-
gates to General Conference.
W. Berberioh requested and was granted
his dismissal from the conference

dressed the conference, whereupon suitable
resolutions were adopted, regretting the 1 u
of 'these dear bretbren to our conference
