OBITUARY
MW WALTER HERN
A retired Goderich merchant,
Walter Hern passed away on
Mohday- at Alexandra, Hospital
after an illness of six months.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas'
Hern, he was born in 1879, in
Usborne Township, near Ex-
eter, and attended St. Marys
High School. Ile cam eto Gode-
rich over 50 years ag6 to -carry
on a shoe business on the town
Square. In 1940 he sold his shoe
business here. Always an active
church worker he was an elder
of North Street United Church
for 40 years and the Sunday
School superintendent for many
years "Althorigh he lived on
North street for many years, he
moved to Mill road several years
ago where he resided until his
de'ath.
He is survived by his widow,
the former Christina Robinson,
whom ,he Jnarried in 1950, by
two grandchildren, and one
great-grandchild. A daughter;
Mrs. Herbert (Leona Blanche)
Dawson, died in 1948.
The body restedat the Stiles
funeral home until Wednesday
afternoon when Rev. W. J. ten
Hoopen conducted services in
North Street United Church.
Interment was iv Maitland ceme-
tery. •
