The meeting was chaired by Mrs. N. T. Ormandy. The min- utes were read and adopted and the treasurer's report.. was re- ceived and passed: Plans were laid for a rummage sale to be held a -Cornish Electric in Feb- ruary with Mrs. R. Rae . as con- vener. Mrs. G. McManus will convene a bake sale to be held in March. The date for the Guide Cookie Day was set for April 29th. All mothers • of Guides and _Brownies will be asked to help with these en- deavors.._. The _Mother and Daughter banquet was discussed and it was suggested that it be held in early May. The mothers would like the Guide and Brownie leaders to. attend the meetings of the as- sociation in uniform and to feel free to offer suggestions, opin- ions and advice, although they cannot vote unless they are mothers of Guides Or Brownies. Mrs. Hobbs and her commit- tee served tea at the close of the meeting. GODERICH NURSERY SCHOOL HAS AN ENROLMENT OF 27 The annual coffee party o the Goderich Co-operative Nurs ery school willbe held Friday morning at 9.30 in their school- room at Macisay- Hall., this school was organized in Octooer, wod, uy nirs. '1 he idea . was to naive their -children .learn to play and work together. - Helping to psi rnate--this .pr -e- kindergarten' school, many fath- ers made furniture for the school, and mothers donated dolls, prams, doll 'clothes, etc. when it started. This co-operative nursery school was granted a license in November, 1960, under the Day School Nurseries Act, of the Ontario Department of Health and Vire-Ira-re.— - - . , The supervisor, Mrs. L. B. Graham, attended a Nursery Education six weeks' course in Toronto last summer and also the Institute of Child Study. She has been in charge of this school since last. October. For two years prior to that, she was an assiotarit--tooni rc l+ Inca n t syr Mrs. , Graham is assisted by Mrs. R. Clark, Mrs. D. McLeod, and also by the secretary -treas- urer, Mrs. J. Graham. This co-operative nursery' school has at present its highest enrolment with 27 pupils; 11 full -time and 16 part - time pupils. The children range from two and a half 'years of age to five when they can enter kindergarten classes. The children arrive at 9.30 on bus' transportation provided by Mr. Rex Duckworth who has shown great kindness and understanding to these children for the last 18 months. A short play period begins the day for the children. Following cookies and a glass of milk, all the pupils take part in the craft period. Many con- structive toys bring out new ideas for their imaginary bull - f Fire Chief. All schools must _ have , the proper equipment, furnishings, and the required floor and air space for each child. A health -certificate is regtjired of each child before admission to this school. This educationarl project, which includes story telling, im- aginative plays, rhythmics, phys- ical education and social games i a great help to the backward child as well as keeping the -very--aotiueoabild_busy _._-_ . __ _. • It is hoped that many of the mothers and interested citizens will attend on Friday morning and see this .school in session under the direction of the cap- able supervisor and. ijer assist- ants, • - dozers and tractors. They also work with plasticine, clay modelline, wood gluing, brush, finger and sponge painting, and with: small carpentry tools. All nursery schools have • a careful yearlv.insnection and must have a qualified supervisor. The pre- mises have to be passed by the BENMILLER M.B. BENMILLER, Jan. 23.—The Mission -Band of Bennidler unit- ed Church meeting rt gently had a poor attendance due to stormy weather. Mrs. Elwyn Pfrimmer, the leader, gave the call to wor- ship. Billy Pfrimmer led the children in the Mission Band Purpose. The Scripture was read by _the leader. She spoke on the trans "sting r Bfbte- and followed with the study book chapter. ,A spelling bee of words from the Bible follow- ed and Joan Fisher closed with prayer. MRS. DOUG,ALD .L. JONES A farmer Goderich resident, Mrs. -D.. L. Jones,. daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archibald McNabb. passed away on Janu- ary 19 at the Queensway Nurs- ing Horne, Hensall. Phoebe Ann McNabb was born in Cree- more in 1862 and in 1899 mar- ried Dougald L. Jones, In 1925 she moved to Goderich. She is survived by two sons, James and Archie, both of Del troit: one sister, Mrs. M. Beattie, Hamilton; and one brother, Neil McNabb, Acton. She was pre- deceased by her husband •and two daughters, Flora and Mrs. Harry (Maroaf et) Witmer. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Andre"% Mrs. John' Marwick and Mr. Harry Witmer, all of Goderich, I attended the funeral which was held last Saturday. Interment was in Actors' cemetery.
