At Belleville on Thureday, -James Kane
was sentencecl to be hanged on May 21 for
the murder of his mere. At Goderieh, Don-
ald McKinnon was acquitted on a similar
charge, but was sent to prison for four months
for trying to take his own life.
The Usborne and Stephen sprIng fair, held
at Exeter, Ont.,,ou Thursday, was very suc-

very large, but included some very flue

GUELPH, April 20. -George Hutchinson, a
meneder'was arrested on Saturday on a
capias. It is alleged that the defendant se-
duced the daughter of William Gauhan of
Milton and iutencied to leave for the United
States. The capias was therefore issued in
order to compel the young man to remain
here and stand his trial.

few companions were walking near the
cotton mill, when one of the young men

the cylinder was struck and a chamber dis-
