Mr. r. E. A. Innes, of Brantford°,

guest speaker. He stated that
well over 60 per cent of dairy
cattle in Canada,. and 50 per
rent in the JJ.S.A. are Holstein.
From his experience pits a
director of the national' organiz-
ation since 11947, during which
time he has been in contact
with (breeders all over the
world, the Canadian president
said that Canada has as good a
breeding program as any other
country.

"In Ontario we are -fortunate
in having 45 clubs 'with ,a mem-
bership of 9;637," he said. He
referred toHuron County's
membership of 200 and com-
pared it to that of New Bruns-
wick with 255, British Colum-
bia with 321 and Quebec with
1,543.
"One of ourgreatest tasks in
the dairy industry is that of
advertising. The Holstein breed-
ers plan on pushing a selling
program costing $3,000 to' the
dairy farmers of Canada to ad-
vertise dairy products. Our as-
sociation has been setting aside
large sums for field work, ex-
tension 'and fall fairs. lin 1945
we used $55,0000 for extension
work, while this year the
amount -was $140,0,00.
He emphasized . the importu
ance of size in the Holstein
breed: "All of our Holsteins go'

'Warnings af, the dangers of
rattle -carrying red -factor, Mr.
Innes said that if breeders' are
to retain their,,export market. to
the U.S., they must look ahead, -
and not let the red factor inter-
fere. He suggested that if the
red factor is present in an
animal up for 'sale,, that it be
