EEF LIVER.
Big Bargains in Nature's Best
Pasadena" will 'be shown.
Mr. C. R. Bristow, director -
elect of district. No. 8, from
Iucl:nr,;v,
discussed "Judging
Standards of Flower Shows."
His talk proved very 'interest-
ing, and he mentioned many
basic points which help hirn as
a judge in a flower show.
Among these were: The 'back
of a dahlia bloom must .look as
good as the front; an<l' the 'size
of pompom zinnias sh,ould 'be
two inei1es across. He is of
the opinion that the basket and
flower arrangement - 'c i)sses are
important to the success of a
Cower show.
Mrs 'T_J. H. Diggon spoke on
the c {tivatioof her sp cia::y
the ch11 rysanthemums'. ' She '.had
several excellent specimens , to
illustrate her talk.
The program secretary; Mrs.
D. McKee, Announced that Bob
Turnbull, a London florist,
would be demonstrating ar-
rangements at the next meet-
ing on Friday, October 211. The
met -fibers are asked to bring
their, . friends to make Ith'is a
well -attended meeting.
The final part of the pro-
gram included the _presentation
of prize money to the three
public school essay contest win -
tiers: 1st, Cheryl McCarthy; 2nd,
Paul -Ann Lowery; 3rd, Rose
Mary Turland. These prizes
'were donated by the Toronto'
DailyStar.'
fir. Moorhead, the 'treasurer,
had all the winnings for the
various classe& in the June and
August flower shows, 'totalled;
and distributed to the -fortunate
memibers.
'The, meeting concluded with
tea and ,sandwiches served by
Miss M. !Buchanan, Mrs. R.
Sparling and Mrs. A. 'M. Harper.
