A 62 -year-old Goderich woman
is charged with ,taking a 1.5 -year-
old 'girl "out of the 'possession and
against the • will of her parent."
The grey-haired woman appear-
ed before Magistrate D. E. Holmes
• in court here Thursday., She had
been in custody at the county jail
before being .brought to court.
"I want to stay over there.
There's peace and quietness," she
told the magistrate. y She said she
hadn't an4 place to go and didn't
have a job.
She was remanded in custody
until .next court; while ,the proba-
tion officer was instructed to 'bring
in a report in the meantime.
The ease of a Seaforth man,
charged with having,' an offensive
weapon (a butcher knife), was ad-
journed 'two weeks on the under-
standing' he will see a doctor and
take said doctor's advice .re hos-
pitalization of himself.

bridge on Sunday afternoon fol-
lowing a !ball game when Port Al -'-4
•bert and Lticknow played to a 5
decision for Port Albert. The pre-,
sentation of the John W. Hanna
trophy, to the Port Albert team
was made by Mr. John W. Hanna,
M.P.P., of Wingham.,
After a :bountiful supper was
served in the church hall, a draw
for various prizes was made. The
winners were: a three-piece set of
luggage, Mrs. Helen Beaumont
Dempsey,. of Cleveland, -Ohio; a
wrist watch, donated. by Anstett
Jewellers, iClint,on, Mrs. Bernadine
Kenney, Detroit; aro autoipatic elec-
tric blanket, Mrs. Michael Dalton,
R.R. 3, Goderich; transistor ,radio,
Mrs, Mary Moore, R.R. 3, Gode-
rich; a hammered aluminum lazy

On the farm of Frank Linklater Will
be hargested within the course of
a few days. Motorists passing along
No. 21 Highway just north of Gude'
rich 'can see some - of tfie 400 acres
of Ahern from the road, but -fields
of them extend farther back in
from the highway, too.. •
The past summer has been the
first time that such an experiment
has been tried in Huron County.
And the sunflower crop at Link-
later's has turned out real well, ac-
cording to Pollard Brothers° Cpm-
pany, of Harrow, Ont.,, who grew
the crop under contract on the
Linklater farm. When harvesting
operations get under way,. some 30
to 40 workers, will be needed:
"This 400 acre tract is just part
of close to 1500 acres "of ,sunflower
seeds being cultivated under con-
tract 'to the Pollard" Company, in
Western Ontario. . In .the latter
pert of May, a working force of
young Goderich men sowed the
seedsf„pr, the crop under the super'-
visio'n of Po`11 -"brt`liers,. They
said 'this site was chosen because„
the land was fertile,• and there.
was a large tract of land: available
at the one place:
When harvest time' comes, the
sunflowers will be cut,, and the
heads impaled on the stalks. Then,
both will be combined, and•gthipped
to the Pollard ) rothets' plant at
Harrow. There, the 'seeds are
cleaned, dried, and _ graded. The
large seeds are sent to Chicago for
Milling And irocessing for human
consumption. The smaller 'seeds
are "for the birds:"
