;Octogenarian Club at Goderich Pay-
ilibn on Wednesday of last week.
Had it not been for the hot wea-
ther, the attendance would have
been considerably higher.
The oldest rgentleman• present
was, Gavin II. Green, 96, and the
oldest lAdy present was Mrs.
Thomas Warrener, 92, of Hamilton
street.,

of ceremonies. Verly.n Snell. pas-
tor of the Free Methodist Church,
was in charge of a memorial ser-
vice and prayer period.
One of the outstanding attrac-
tions on the program was enter-
tainer Harvey McGee, of North
Bay. He sang Scottish and Irish
songs; accompanied by Mrs. R. J.
' Phillips, of Auburn, at the piano.

ing the absorption ' of Canada by
the United States of America was
being circulated and signed in
Montreal. This Annexation Mani-
festo was supported by a group of
English-speaking business men.
The movement received little sup-
port and ffbally died away.

depth or when the sides of the trench are sloped to within fou-
(4)feet of the bottom of the trench so that the sloped sides of
thetrench do not have more than, one (1) foot vertical rise to
each ftrot of horizontal run, need not be shored as in Sect. 8 (1).

the, Town Clerk's Office.
