HERE COMES THE "BRITANNIA"
Early this. Friday 'afternoon the Royal'
yacht, Britannia serredided to pass
through La,ke Huron on a. trip up ttuTTirkeS-.-
When she passes a point'. opposite Goderfth
harbor. .she will he approximately .25 miles
out to LOt littrorrlrotir .rtut-shure.-
May will naturally be -an invilation to people
with small craft to head out into Lake 'Unroll'
in the hope of seeing the Royal yacht go by,.
• Unfortunately, the aanees of 'get t hip; , a
-good vivo of the luxury, yaeht at this time in
this. Manner are slim, • For one thing.the
RCMP is likely to keep all eraft about three
miles away from the course the..".Britannia
will take up the Lake. Them again. the "Bri-
tannia'' travels at about • 30. miles per hour
which makes it difficult for any small craft.
to keepwithin a very close distance of her.
'It will be a matter of "Inre she conies, there
she goes,- if you do plan to sail out into
Lake Huron in the hope of .s.eeing hit- go by,
You .had, better fake yourAinoulars.
Thr Royal yacht "Britafiniar is probably
the last word in luxu,ry and comfort,. The
previous royal yacht was the "VictOria- and
Albert," which was -a "tub" eompared with
the present Ship, and after more than 50 years'
service it is no wonder she was sera.Pped and
a modern yacht built. Queen Victoria rarely
hued it, anyway. Prince Philip has ma+le

We read that the Britannia is the quiets'est
ship afloat. The crew poi around' in Soft run-

mands are spoken aloud in any part of the
ship within hearing of the Royalt,i Family or
their guests.
A ship at' sea has noises and sounds pecu-
liar to 'itself. ThOse Who. built the Hritannia
seem to have designed If, "that with., its
palatial rooms„ it is more like being at hOme
than aboard ship.
One of the "quiet pleasures of the night
lyitig in one's 'berth, or. bed, in a ship is to
hear the distant rumble of chains as the mil.
der responds to a movement of the wheel, the
sound ,of a seaman padding along the deck,
a voice of command; and to feel the throb 'of
the „ivreW. These sound convey a feeling

Strawberry Preserves will taste
mighty good come'next winter, so,
I thought you'd like to try this
recipe which I've found to be most
successful:
STRAWBERRY PRItSERVES
6 cups small whole berries
(about2 quarts firm ripe
small,strizwberries)
Cup water
7 cups (3 lbs.) sugar
34 bottle Certo fruit pectin
Prepare the strawberries. Hull
about 2 quarts small strawbtrrie's.
Measure 6 cup's whole berries
(firmly Packed without crushing)
into a very large saucepan: Add
water and sugar.
Now, make your, preserves. Place
over high heat and bring to a full
r611ing boil, stirring carefully to
keep fruit whole. Reduce heat and
boil gently a minutes. Remove
from heat and at 'once stir in
,Certo. Skim off with metal spoon.'
Then let cool about 1 hour, to help
prevent floatiWg fruit, Ladle into
glasses:- Cover preServei. at once
with 1/8 inch hot parafftn. Apices
about 10 medium glasses. •
If you've ever 'wondered what
"pectin". -4s, it's really easy to ex-
plain. It's the jetting substance
found in all fruits in varying,
amounts. So you see
pectin extracted from fruits rich
in this natural substance, then re-
fined, concentrated and perfortn,4
ance-controlled, That's why, when
you use Certo' and follow the'
tested Certo recipes, Jour "pre-
serves, jams and Allies set per-
fectly every time.
Tart jams or jellies are delicious
accompaniments to meat and
poultry. Try raspberry or cherry
jam with chicken or turkey;
kooseberry or rhubarb jam with
pork: grape or plum jelly With
larnii. ^
I get quite a few letters from
women who have problems in -
making' them jam, IOW or pre -
<!,serves. If you'd like help; wrfte
'me and I'll be pleased to give you
any information I can. And do
