A four -game winning streak
ended for Beniniller-Goderich 'Com-
bines Tuesday when they were de-
w feated 6-3 in a hard-fought men's

The Wingham team plays -'back
here tonight (Thursday) and it
'could be a real tussle judging by
Tuesday night's encounter (between
the two' clubs. Tonight's game
starts at 8.30 in Agricultural Park:

In Tuesday's game at Wingham,
both teams played scoreless ball
for four innings, and at the end
of the sixth the sore was knotted
at 3.3..Wingha0 pushed across
three runt in their, end of the
seventh 'and the "game ended 6-3.
For Goderich, Ken Dunn started
on the mound and Len Jenkins
came on in relief in the eighth.
Chuck Connelly was behind the
plate all the way.

In a very exciting men's' softball
game, played under the lights at
Agricultural Park last Thursday,
the COM/blues overcame ant early
Kincardine lead and went on to
register an 8.2 victory.

scored by either team for five
ipnings. In ,the top of the sixth,
Kincardine pushed a run across

there on, the B.G. Combines were
never headed.
Len Willis and Tom Thompson
provided the big bats for Combines
as they connected for two extra -
base hits each.

bines trimmed Lucknow 11-5 at
Lucknow and outslugged Ripley
16-15 in Ripley,,.

topic was taken by Mrs .Emile Mac-
Lennan, Mrs. Colin Rowes, Mrs.
George Moncrief with Mrs. D. A.
MacLean leading the discussion on
"How to make new Canadians feel
welcome." Mrs. Peter Van der
Ley suggested that anyone invit-
ing them to her borne specify a
date on which to come. The com-

Fifty years ago, on June 23,
Linnaeus G. Warnock and Miss
Maggie Murray were married by

bride's parent§ in Goderich.
Last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. War-
nock celebrated their golde'8i an-
niversary at their new home, 125
Cameron street, Goderich.
Present for the *ensign were
their (five children, includingthree
sons, Frank, of Sarnia; Stanley and
Norman, both of London; and two
4aug ters, Tris, Mrs, Walter Parker,
of Georgetown, , and Mrs. Evelyn
Faubert, of Hamilton. '
IMr. and (Mrs. Warnock have
nine grandchildren and bwo great-
grandchildren. Three of the grand-
children—Mrs. Harold Jeffery, of
Goderich, and Misses, Joan -and
Margaret Warnock, of London—
were ,among those present for the
anniversary oelebratioii"-ist week-
end.
After their marriage in Goderich
50 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. War-
nock went to Brantfordfor two
years, then moVed west to 'Cal-
gary, where th•ey•resided" five years

Mr. and Mrs. 'Malcolm Mathers
visited in Toronto for the week-
end. On Sunday they attended the
last service to be held at Emman-
uel Anglican Church on Hanian's
Point. Re -development of 'the
island~ has necessitated the tearing
down of the little church, the fur-
nishings of which ".are to be re-
moved to a new Anglican church
' at Richvale, near Richmond Hill.

Finance Trip For
28 Patrol Boys
Goderich Jaycees pumped over
1,000 gallons of gasoline and wash-
ed 75 cars fast Sunday so 28 local
schoolboy, safety patrol meinibers
can attend a major league base-
ball game in Detroit this coming
Sunday.
,Around 130 man-hours were con-
tributed as the. Jaycees held a
``Gas -a -rams" at Chuck's Cities Ser-
vice station on West street. The
club received all the proceeds,; f roan
the wash jobs plus a percentage' of
the gascQ�line sales for the day.

The ycees operated the service
station from 9 a.m. until 10 ° p.m.

chairman, of the Gas-a-rarna com-
mittee. Peter Lierman, of , Kings-
bridge, was the holder of the
lucky draw ticket.
As a reward for their diligence
during the past school year, abeut
28 safety patrol boys are going to
Detroit on Sunday to watch a major
league baseball game.
The trip is being co-sponsored by
Goderich Junior Chamber of Com-
merce and (Goderich 'Police Com:

The police commission has don-
ated $75 towards the project, and
the Jaycees will make up the bal-
ance, which is estimated a't125.

When the tug Baypd;Ct overturn-
ed and sank a mile out from Col-
lingswood harbor on Monday, Capt.
Percy Butters, 64, and two other
seamen were drowned. Capt. But=

piloted numerous boats into Gde-
rich harbor. The Bayport 'was

the tug capsized: Watchers said
