Following a long illness, Rev.
John Policia died at Wingham hos-
,pjtal on Sunday. He w.as born i,

and came to 'Canada 55 years ago.
1'1ev.Mr. `Pollock was pastor of the
Baptist Church in Goderich, serv-
ing here from 191:1; to j914 and
it was during his pastorate that
chairs in the chureh were replaced
by pews. The Baptist Young Pe.Q-
and the' Mission
Circle were also formed during
his ministry here. From Goderich
Hgv. Mr. Pollock went to Wingham
ylf
here he retired in 1947 after
serving the Presbyterian Church
at Salford., Ailsa Craig, White-
church.
He, is survived by his wife, the
former Elizabeth, Gilchrist, of
Wingham, and two sods, Jack,
Lucknow, and Rhys, of Jackson-
ville, Fla., and a daughter, Mrs.
Harry'• (Dorothy) Cooper, of North
Miami, Florida.

attended the -funeral at the Pres-
byterianChurch, Wingham, , on
Tuesday afternoon. Interment was
in Wingham cemetery.

Junior Baseball

Eighteen boys have been turning
out to practices of the newly-org"an-
ized junior baseball team.
Harry Worsell Wil be coaching
the team and is very happy with
.interest -shown by tie players.
These boys pre between the ages
of 17 and 20 years and have shown
a great desire to play baselball.
The team has been entered in
the Huron -Perth league and' will
oompete with teams from Dash-
wood, Zurich, (Mitchell, St. Marys
and Listowel.
The first game of the schedule
will be played next Saturday, May
30, at Agricultural; Park. Game
time will be 3 p.m., with St. Marys
supplying the opposition.
Following is the schedule of
games for the local team. Games
with Listowel are not included,
but will be arranged at a dater'
.date.
May 30—St. Marys at Goderich,

June 5-Goderich at Dashwood,

On Sunday, services during the

The Ladies' Aid June meeting
will take place on June 3 at the
church at which time they will
quilt.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Straughan,
of Benmiller, 'visited' on Sunday
with ,Mr.,. and Mrs, Howard Sturdy.
Mr. Jerry Ginn attended the 14th
anniversary of the London Free
Press Leaders' ..Clulb. last. week_.
Jerry ,is a charter memlfaer of
1946 and only six members of that
year were able to be present. Mr.
and Mrs. Ginn spent the evening
with Mr. 0. Ginn and Mrs. A. S.
Henry, of London.
