Detroit; Lindsay Praise Goderich Hspitality An item in a Lindsay newspaper and a letter • written from Detroit are further proof that the hos- `itality shown to visiting hockey players is winning many new, friends for Godericn. This' applies, not only to Young Canada Week. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Papernick have received a letter thanking them for opening their home to members of the .Detroit Beltemp bantam and pee wee hot'key .teams when "they were in town .prior to Young Canada Week. The Beltemp squads played Goderich teams . in a double-header for the benefit of the Listowel dis- aster fund. Charles R. Beltz, head of the firm which distributes Beltemp ice making equipment,, wrote Mrs. Papernick as follows: "We thank you most sincerely 'for so gener- ously opening your honfe to mem- hers. of the Beltemp . bantam and pee wee hockey teams when they were in Goderieh. "Al lthe boys had a most enjoy- able week -end, and I am sure they will long remember and appreciate the warm welcome our Canadian neighbors extended to them." The 'Lindsay„ Watchman -Warder recently, publiShed an interesting news story, headlining the fact that the ` best of Lindsay's pee wee hockey players attended the "larg- est tourney in the world" at Gode- rich.. Provincial Constable C. A. Hardy happened to notice this, article and passed 'it along to The Signal -Star, The Lindsay Pee Wees were in ''charge of Manager Grant Baldwin and Coach Bob Lewis. The Watch- man -Warder states: "Mes'srs. Baldwin and Lewis, who have given much valuable • time to the pee woes for several 'years past, speak very highly bf the hospitality of the people of dode- rich, ' who open up their homes to the boys and look after their per- sonal comforts while they are in 'the town." The newspaper notes that a former Lindsay boy Lorne "Wake - lin, helped launch 'Young Canada Week when he was recreation dir- ector at Goderich 10 years ago. Money to help pay the expenses of the Lindsay team's trip to Ga'de- rich was largely derived from the sale of• tickets on a side cit -prof donated by Lloyd Horselin.
