Sarnia Legionnaires, who have
host only one game so far in the
Wire season's sehedule—and that
to Goderich Sailors—defeated the
Saaillors. at• Sarnia oil Tuesday by a
"t0-7 Score in a rough and tumble

Sarnia went out front 4-3 in the
opening stanza and led 9-4 on com-
pletion of the middle session.
A trio of fighting incidents re-
sulted in six -majors and three mis-
conducts. Sailor, Bill Robinson and
Legionnaire, Norm Armstrong
were banished followih g a two-
roundjUssle .at 12.09 of the second
period.
Sarnia centre, Jim Bloomf}eld
joined them with 37 seconds of
play remaining on an automatic
misconduct. He had tangled with
Bob Beuttenmiller after pounding
Bill Gallow's head on the ice at
38 of the final frame.
Jack Kerwin paced the Sarnia
triumph, with a trio of tallies. Art
Turcofte and Danny Foster added
two goals each while lone counters
were netted by Bloomfield and
Knechtel.
Ronny Jessop 'dented the twine
twice for Goderich. Singletons
were collected by Robinson; Glen
Richardson, Jack Price, Ga11ow and
Ron Mason.
Sarnia Again
On Monday night at Goderich,
the Sarnia team won by a score of
4-2 over the Sailors. The Legion-
naires did all their scoring in the
first period with Chuck Connelly
getting a lone marker for ,Gode-
rich. In the second period, ,Mason
got Goderich's second goal, on a
pass from Jessop. The third per-
iod was scoreless.
St. Marys Win
On Friday night of last week
at Goderich, the St. Marys Lincolns
went to town and handed the Sail-
ors .a 12-1 defeat. Bob Beutten-
mitler was , the. lone ..Gorier c°h
marksman. Jim "Dusty" Aldis led
the scoring for St. Marys with a
three goal "hat -trick."
Two Shutouts
This is. what' the ,Goderich Memorial. Arena looked like• a little •
more than nine years ago now. This picture was taken in De-
eemb.er, 1949, and it is a reminder of how fast the years go by.
Early in 1950 the Arena was completed and on March 17, 1950,
the official opening was held when there was a Junior O.H.A. "C"
play-off game 'between Wallaceburg and. Goderich.

A quiet but pretty wedding was
solemnized on January, 17 at Vic-
toria Street United church, when
Patricia Ann 'Longmire, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William Longmire,
-RR: 2, Goderich, became the bride
of Donald James Morrison, son
of Mr. and' Mrs. Edwprd Emmer-
ton, •Goderich. The marriage was
performed by Rev. S., A. Moote.
Given in marriage by her lather,
the britie wore a street -length
dress of pink' velvet with white'
hat and gloves. She wore 'a cor-
sage of pale blue carnations.
• The -bride was attended -by -Miss
Lois Cunningham, of Goderich.
She chose an. avocado green vel-
vet dress with beige hat and
glove's and wore a corsage of
pink carnations, •
The groomsman was' Barrie
Willis, of Goderich.
The couple will reside in Gode-
rich.

Juvenile
The Goderich Juveniles continu-
ed their •winning ways last Satur-
day night when they defeated the
Seaforth Juveniles 8-0- 2.
Ron Feagan scored three goals
to lead his team to the victory,
while Fred lsraels scored two goals,
and assisted wibh . three others.
Gary Stoddart, captain of the local
team, scored two 'goals while Ron
Williamson turned the red light
on once. and assisted with two
more. O�Brien and M''eMastel' scor-
ed for Seaforth in the first period,
and due -to some fine goal tending
by Percy Garrick, the Seaforth
boys were held scoreless for the
remainder of the game.°

In a closely fought tilt, Bobby
Graham and Billy 'Wilkinson each
scored three goals for their re-
spective teams in the first game
of the Pee Wee League Saturday
morning. Fords finally won the
game 5-4 on a goal. by. -David Smith
while Peter Bettger scored the
other goal., `John Hughes rounded

Bantam -Midget
Wayne Rumig scored on a pen-
alty shot, which enabled Mills to
tie Goderich Flowers in the first
game of the, bantam -midget town
league o?i' Tuesday night. The
penalty shot was awarded to Rumig
after he had been tripped from
onthe opposing goal. Dave Wil-
kinson tallied the other marker for
Mbehind'ills. while skating in- all alone
Scorers for Goderich Flowers
were Doug ,!Harrison (Bud Robin.
son) and Vern Skeoch (Doug -Har-
rison).
In the second game Ainslies de-
feated a..,shart-han`ded.Fina,,...team,
by a 7-2 .score. Gary Doak led
the winners, scoring four goals:
Other scorers for Ainslies were
Del Bedard (1 goal and 2 assists),
Paul Wisser (goal and an assist),
Ron McCartney (1 goal), Marty'
Baechler and Don Currell with two
assists each. For the Fina ; team,
Ray Jeffrey tallied a goal and an
assist and Dennis Williamson scor-
ed the second goal.

Seaforth Thursday far a social
evening of curling.
Plans will be 'made soon for the
annual mixed bonspiel to play for
the Town of Goderich Trophy and
the 'Hiram Walker Trophy. The
• ladies are also debating on having
a ladies' bonspiel 'which 'was. a

Dr. 1V. C. Jackson, with his quar-
tet, heads the scheduled games this
month so far. This rink has three
wins. Stuart Ogg, Clem Gracey,
Harold Montgomery and Morris
McMillan each have one 'win.
In the ladies'' section, "Peg"
Wood is on top with two wins and
the highest plus. ° Phyl Doak, Mil-
dred Whetstone and Marg McMil-
lan each have two wins:
Marian McLeod has one win and
Jean Price is without a win: There
are still two games yet to be. play-
ed.
There are many bonspiels being
MRS. CHRISTOPHER JOHNSTON
Following a long illness, Mrs.
Christopher Johnston died at her
home„ Huron road, on January 23
at the age of 78 years. She was
born -1 -rife` Benmiller district but
came to Goderich when quite
young with ,her parents, the late
'Mr. Henry Doak and the former
Louise Campbell, where • she has
continued "to live. She ' was a
member of Knox Presbyterian
Church and also of the Women's
Institute, Her husband, Christo-
pher Johnston, predeceased her in
1937.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Ira (Helen) Oke, of Goderich,
Mrs. Garrett (Irene) Carpenter, of
Welland,,,and a son, Harry, of Lon-
don. There are ten grandchildren
and six great-granddaughters. Two
sisters, Mrs. Wm. Anstay and Mrs.
Iai -man- Ma•eaula fund- e• -.„brother; -
William Doak, all of Goderich, also
survive.

Pee Wees. Bob Graham, Pete Mac-
Donald, Bill Wilkinson and Peter
Bettger each scored goals for Gode-
rich. McIlwain and Patterson scor-
ed the goals for the Seaforth team.
The final score was Goderich 4,
Seaforth 2.
Girls' Hockey •
Fina defeated the Mills team 4-3
in the girls hockey league, last
week. Betty Harrison scored three
goals far the winners while Beth
Allison notched the other marker.
Barb Allison with two goals and
Blanche Allison with one goal,
were the scorers for the Mills •
Team.
