WENT SIXTY MILES BY HORSE
AND CUTTER. ON HONEYMOON
AUBURN, Jan. 12. -Many friends
and neighbors called on Sunday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
C. Stoltz to congratulate them on
reaching their 60th wedding an-
niversary.

Mr. Stoltz is the son of the late
• Mr, and Mrs. Jacob, Stoltz of New
Dundee, and Mrs. Stoltz was Marg-
aret Ellen Garland, daughter of the
- -late Mr., and Mrs. William Garland;

hour even though they encountered
plenty of snow around Seaforth.
Wh-ap--they arrived in this district
they stayed with cousins, the late
Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson, for
a few days. They farmed success-
fully as breeders of registered
Shorthorn cattle. They also had a,
wonderful apple orchard.
Twelve years ago they sold their
farm and retired, moving into their
home in the vi11ae 11 Years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Stoltz are both valu-
ed members of Knox PresbYter-
.ian Church where he has been a
memberof the Session for over
30 yea.rs, also a trustee and 'on the
Board of Managers for many years,
and treasurer of the Central • Coin-
mittee. Mrs, •Stoltz is a lite mem-
ber of the W.M.S. and a member
of the Ladies' Aid,' the Women's
Institute and the Hortidulture So-
ciety.
They have one son, Eldon, of
Guelph, and one daughter, Mrs.
Marguerite' Chopin, of Wingliam,
and three grandsons, George Daw-
son, of Dungannon, and Douglas
and ronald Stoltz, of Guelph. One
daughter, Edith, passed away 18
year
Mr. and Mrs, Stoltz attended
divine worship last Sunday at Knox
freal)yterian Church:. Following
the service, Rev. D. J. Lane called
the celebrants forward and Mr.
Duncan MacKay read an address
of congratulations. Rev. Mr. Lane
presented'a beautiful Bible to them*"
from the congregation. Mr. and.
Mrs. Stoltz both thanked these, as-
sembled and invited all to the
ho,use for the reception.
The home was beautifully. decor-
,*ated with baskets of red rdses and
white mums,' where' they reteiVed
• their -guests. Mrs. Stoltz 'wore a
lovely black dress with satin trim
and a beautiful white, • orchid cor-
sage. The guests were 'welcomed
at the door by Mr. Eldon, Stoltz,
'who •alSo Was in charge ,of the
guest: book.
• The lovely tea table, covered
• with, a -lace- cloth, Was- centred -with
a large decorated anniversary cake
flanked on both, ends by crystal
bud vases containing red rose buds.
Tea was poured from a lovely silver
tea kervice by IVirs. William 'T.
Robison and Miss Margaret R.
Jackson. Those serVin,„.. the marry
guests were Mrs. Marguerite
Chopin, Mrs., Eldon Stoltz, . Miss
Karen Dawson, Mrs. Wes. Brad -
nock, 'Mrs. Kalmer Dawson, Mrs.

a telegram from Mrs. Stoltz's bro-

Many beautiful gifts and cards
were received from the neighbors,
friends and relatives to help mark I
this wonderful occasion which -very
few are aster able to celebrate. •
Both Mr. and Mrs.: Stoltz enjoy
good 'health. Despite their ad-
vanced years, they take a keen
interest in church and community
affairs.
