Rally Day service of the United

Harvest Home service will he
observed in St. Paul's Anglican
Church next Sunday, September
28, at 2.30 p.m. (DST). Rev. H. L.
Jennings, the rector, will conduct
the service.
The "Country Fair" at .the Dun-
gannon Schdbl last Friday after-
noon, postponed from Thursday for
better weather, .was fortunate in
having a nice sunny afternoon.
The affair, planned from sum-
mer, by the teachers' and pupils,
drew, many. At 2 p.m„ the child-
ren 'engaged in a calithumpian
parade, of every description, head-
ed by school band with Mr % James
Kinkead as marshal). A hearty
hand was given bY the spectators.
They assembled in various classes
and Were judged by three local
ladies, Mrs. Melvin Red, Mrs,
Wil-
bur Brown and Mrs. Lorne Ivers
who were" later, commended for
their fairness in judging. The.
children brought favorite pets that
included dogs, eats:, ,guinea fowl,
guinea pigs, 01(4 fish; raccoon, and

novelties. Some races for age
groups of the children were run
off and a softball game got under-
way ,between .the parents and
pupils. • The game ended 10-2 for
the parents,

service net Sunday morning is
cancelled to allow members ,to at-
tend anniversary ..Services morning
and evening at the Port Albert
United Church.
This community last Friday
morning was very much saddened
and heartfelt sympathy went out
to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Maize in
the loss of their little six-year-old
daughter, Wilda Mae, who has Suf-
fered since birth with a rare heart
condition. She underwent a surg-
ical operation last Thursday at Sick
Children's Hospital, Toronto, but
succumbed Friday morning. Had
she lived through the -ordeal, it
would have •been one ot.the most.
miraculous Operations yet perform-
ed of this kind, ' Her first oper-
ation was successful when she was
14 months -old. It was known then,
a series of operations must follow,
Her heart condition, at the age of
five, necessitated an operation on
her eyes, She had been attending
sc,hool at S.S. No. 6, Ashfield, and
on Monday afternoon her teacher,
Mrs. Robert Irvin, with pupils, at-
tended the funeral service at Luck:
now. Many floral pieces were car-,
ridby the" pi:1DM' and -little 'cons -
ins: Surviving besides her par-
ents, Mr, and Mrs, Harold Maize
(nee Maxine Irwin), are her bro-
thers, Gregory, eight, Terry, seven
and Sandra, three. Grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Harvey. Maize,
Dungannen, and Mrs. Rachel
London. The funeral was conduct-
ed by Rev. R. Kennedy, of Dun-
gannon United Qhurch,. The Pall-
bearers were Glen Weaver, Albert
Clark, 'Glen Springer and Alex
Stoykoff. Interment was made, in
Dungannon cemetery.
Anniversary services will be "ob-
served Sunday, September 28, at
Erskine Presbyterian Church, at
11 .a.m, and .7,30 p:m., The guest
minister will be Rev. Neil Mc
Cortibie, Ripley.
Mrs, Robert Armstrong, 88, is
at the present time seriously ill
at her home.
