A friend of the groom, David
Ritchie, . of Toronto, formerly of
Scotland,:` was groomsman and the
bride's brother, Anthony, Winter,
ushered,
Receiving the guests at the Bed-
ford Hotel, the bride's mother wore
a beige corded silk dress' topped
With a taatching duster.` coat lined
with contrasting stripes. A pink
feathered hat, beige accessories•
and a mauve orchid corsage com-
pleted her ensemble. She was
assisted by Mrs. Rogers,, ,o# Mon-
treal, an aunt of the `•groom, who
was attired in a navy and white
spotted ensemble with navy and
white accessories.
For travelling, Mrs. Sellar chose
a Hunting Hamilton tartan suit of
blue and green With chocolate
brown accessories.
The couple will reside in Gode-
rich.
Guests from a distance were pre-
sent from Montreal and Toronto.
A tape recording was taken of -
the marriage service and also cine
camera shots to be sent to relatives
in the old country.

Marriage vows were 'exchanged
on' ;Monday, Septerhber 8, by Mary
Darlene Johnston, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. F. W. Johnston, Goderich,
and Gordon Benjamin McCullough,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCul-
lough, Goderich. . The ceremony
was performed by Rev. R. G. Mac-
Millan in Knox Presbyterian chapel
which was decorated with pink and
white gladioli.

Miss Beverley Johnston, 'sister of
the 'bride, as bride maid; was gown-

ballerina -length. She wore a
matching halo headdress and car-
ried a bouquet `of mauve and white
mums.
The groom's brother, Bruce Mor
Cuilough, was., best man and an-
other brother, Mervin' McCullough•
ushered.
The reception was held at Tiger
Dunlop Inn where the bride's mo-
ther received the guests in a browri.

PRIZE MEDALLION
• Apple picking time, now in .full..
swing, brings back memories to•
the Misses Curwen, on the Huron
road just outside of Goderich. They
have at their home a bronze medal-
lion, given to their late father, for
an exhibit of snow apples, and also
pears, sent to the World's Fair in.
France. The medallion is dated
1900 and measures three inches
across.

Mr. Norman MacDonald, of, Fd-
monton, Alta., and Mr. Charlie 'Me,
Neil, of Goderich, spent Thursday
last with Mr. and Mrs. Guff McNeil
and family.
The W,M.S.'met on Wednesday.in
the 'church. The president, Mrs.
Wilmer .Rutledge, was . in charge
with Mrs S. Taylor acting as aecre-•
tary. ' The study book, prepared
by Mrs, 0. Bert~, was taken by
Mrs. S. Taylor, Mrs. G. McNee and
Mrs. T. McPhee.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl McNee, of
Belmore, and Mrs. Ida MoWhinney,
of Port Elgin, were recent visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Ross McNee.
Bruce Sillib, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Elwyn Sillib, has been confined to
his home the last two weeks with
virus pneumonia. We hope -he'll
soon be back at school again.
Mrs. Ruth Hayden, of Goderich;
spent the week -end with her
daughter, ,Mrs: "Allan Dickson, Mr.
Dickson and family.

at different churches and bring
back ideas for the kitchen which is

Miss' Marie Black was one 'of 15
girls chosen from Huron County
by Mrs. Ian McAllister, home econ-
omist, as a special award for out-
standing 4-H Club work. She was
the -guest of the Western Fair
Board at a banquet and grandstand
performance:

Mrs. Ina Wilson, of Midland, were
week -end visitors • with Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Bogie.
Mrs, Chester McPhee and her
mother, Mrs. Plunkett, have gone
to Sarnia to spend a. few weeks
-with Mrs. McPhee's daughter, Mrs
Ray Williams, and Mr. Williams.

MRS. CATHERINE MAY CHAP -
Following an illness .of nine -
months, ' Mrs. Catherine. "Kitty"
May Chapman died at Alexandra
Hospital on Friday last at the age
of 51 years. Deceased was born
in London, England, a daughter of
Mrs. Joseph Thorne of Toronto and
the late Mr. Thorne: She came to
Canada with her parents at the
age , of . two years and lived-in Lon=
don and Toronto. After her mar-
riage in• X'932 to Leslie Charles
Chapman, they lived in Toronto
far year -before moving to -London
where they resided until 1947 when
they, moved to Goderich.'
She was an 'adherent' of Knox
Presbyterian church and a member
of the Ladies' Auxiliary of Can-
adian Legion Branch .109.
Besides her husband, she is sur-
vived by two sons, Ronald Leslie,
RON, Halifax, and Gordon Bruce,
at home and two ,daughters, Mrs.
Wm. (Joan Marie) Rodgers, of
Blyth, and *s. Wm. (Louise June)
Tideswell, of Clinton, as well as
her mother, a brother, George
Thorne, of Toronto, and ,a sister,
Mrs.. Donald .Regester,- of Oakland;
California. There are three grand-
hildren.
The funeral service was conduct
d at Stiles'funerai home on Tues -
ay, afternoon at which Rev. R. G.
MacMillan officiated. The Ladies'

ice on Monday -evening. Burial
was"` made ih Maitland cemetery.
