Huron is no "one horse 'county,"
according to statistics for 1957 just
released gp.by th.e Ontario Depart-
ment of Agriculture, These figures
showed that Huron County - has
3,620 horses with a total value of
$457,200. .
,Bilt Grey County leads the way
in Ontario with 6,610 horses. Sim -
toe county, is second 'with 5,040
horses and Wellington county third
with 4,970 horses. In last place is
the district of kenora with 300

Ontario there are 130,000 horses
valued at $15,600;000. ••
Huron County in 1957 had 1,475
chattel mortgages to the amount
of $3,015,803. York County had
the most with 48,213 amounting
to $104,330,854. '
There were 54,400 turkeys, 4,830
ducks and 3,660 geese in•Huron in

Presbytery there were 20,651,tMder
pastoral oversight, with 13,077.
members, a gain of 209. James
Street, Exeter, received 66 mem-
bers; Victoria Street, Goderich, 58,
including 22 by certificate, and
Seaforth 54.
Wingham reported 1,340 persons
under , pastoral •oversight. North
Street, Goderich, was next with
1,325. The total for Goderich
churches and preaching places,
2-,297; exceeded that of Exeter's
two churches at 2,042.
Marriages at James Street; EX-
eter, numbered 18, far 'more than
anywhere else except Main Street
in the same town, 11.
Wingham paid the highest salary,
followed by James Street, Exeter,
and North Street. .Goderich.
