actiirities of farm organizations are
llinited but• I ,think you will realize:
;that .your executives have been

. Under Section nine of t Farm aim-
.
Products Marketing Act, producer
groups, if they can, assure the
Board that at least 60% of the
producers are in favor, mayrequest
the. Marketing Board to put this
plan into operation. Under this
section, the producer group can re-
quire the buyers or processors of
the product to deduct a fee from
the sale price anfemit it to the
organization. This money can then
be used to promote the sale of the
product' by advertising, education
and research.
Of the groups interested, the
turkey growers have the strongest
organization and their directors
made the request to come under
the section some time ago and are
now hopeful that it will be approv-
,ed shortly.
Those of you who attended the
annual meeting of the beef pro-
ducers know that you ,approved.
taking action on this matter. A
brief was presented to the Market-
ing Board and approval is expected
in the near future.
The poultry producers have ap-
proved this method of financing
but as yet have not been told what
the Board will accept as proof of
the approval of the producers. The
beef producers apparently have
gained their point through resolu-
tions at their county annual meet-
ings. It is now hoped that the
poultry producers maybe allowed
to do the same. The roiler grow-
ers are also interested in this plan.
From all this I think, you will see
eet's our birthday
