Expect Highest Enrolments Ever

ber of students will register when
Goderich schools re.open on Tues-
day, September 2, I
Last year on opening day, 1k436
pupils registered. It will not bej
surpriSing if opening day registra-
tion this year is higher by 75 or

At Goderich Separate School,
opening day registrations will prob-
ably be about the same as last
year,, but possibly a little higher,
according to Leo Walzak, chairman
of the school board. There were
137 pupils at the school on open-
ing day last year, compared with
128 in 1956.

Colin K. MacGregor.—The death
of Colin Kenneth MacGregor oc-
cured in Wiligham hospital on
August 12, after a brief illness in
hospital. He had not been feeling
well for some time but a final
stroke hastened the end. Colin
was one of the, eleven sons born
to the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander
MacGregor, early pioneers of Ash-
field along the lake shore north of
}OMI. He was of a quiet, friend-
ly disposition, having a', host of
friends.. He spent his whole life,
in Ashfleld With the exception of
a few years in Detroit where he
followed the occupation of ,a car-
penter. He is survived by his wife:

daughters, Mrs. Clark Finlaysorf
(Jean) and Mrs. Leadberry (Anne),
of Toronto, a spn, Robert, at home,
and a brother, Alex, of the Can-
adian West and Fred, in Ashfield.

founder, John Galt, was unveiled
in the Royal ',City Park at Guelph
on Saturday by Miss Helen ,G.
Mitchell, daughter of the former
Helen Galt, of Goderich, and a de-
scendant of the feufider.
The plaque was tretted by the
Archaeological and Historic Sites

ier initial football practices by

been the custom in past years.
