Well, August is on the wane, and
soon the gay, mad fun of yet
another summer. will be just a
frightening., memory. For ` which,
and I say it reverently, thank the
Lord.

Step on it, September. Let me
wrap your cool, sweet, Bolden
charms,- in my sweaty little -arms.
If 1 can just make Labor Day, I
figure I can stave elf a heart at-
tack for another twelve-month.

It's the -same every year. Sum-
nier "arrives and with it come the
tourists, the relatives, the friends
fleeing the city's heat. It's, grand,
to see them. Takes you out of
your 'rut. It has the same invigor-
ating effect' that a schocl of sharks
has on a marathon swimmer.

One good thing about it, It

the impending arrival of sisters-

the old hacienda at about the same
pace, and with the 'same devasta-

Georgia.

Actually, Summer is pretty rough
on the women in` these, tourist
towns, too. It can get_' pretty darn
nerve-racking sitting there beside
the lake wondering it it's time to
tell the children they've been in
swimming long enough. And you
certainly get sick of having to turn
over on your stomach so there'll
'be an even tan on the backs of your
legs. And you've no idea how
wearing it can• be, sitting under
that hot dryer,t the •hairdresser's.
Some of the gals are so overcome
they've been seen to drop right
off. To sleep, that is. -
* * 4:
And then, biggest cross of all
to bear, are the eternal meals to
prepare. The family just doesn't
seem to have any consideration in
summer. They want to eat three
times a day, just as though "they
were hungry or something. ' Of'
course, Dad doesn't eat breakfast,
because nobody's op yet, and a can
of soup will do for lynch. But your
wrist gets pretty limp twisting, that

and selfish point of view, however:

bass; if I have to show one more
retired printer through the plant
and have him say hes not going
to hold me up because he knows
how it is and then; stand around
telling me his life hiSiory; if I have
to tell one mare importunate
frienci from the city, on his holi-
days, that 'no 1 can't go down to.
the pub and have a few beers with
him in the middle of the afternoon;
then—I may not get me to a nun-
nery, but :l'm sure as hell going
to start looking around for a first-
class monastery that's open for
clients.

not guilty.
When Constable Martin Horan
was in the town police station pn
July 1, his attention ,was attracted)
by the 'noise of the youth's auto,
so the officer got intd the police•
cruiser and followed it.
In court, the youth said he`didn't
think his car, which had dual muf-
flers, was backfiring. He hinted
that the eause might have been
"resonan'ce" around the Town Hall.
The explanation caused court of-
ficials to smile, but Lee was con-
victed.
Raymond Remillard, 19, of Clin-
