miles out of town.
In another case heard in court.
Thursday, Harold M. Wilson,
wasfined $50 and costs, or 10 days,
for impaired drivin.. His driving
license was suspended, for three
months. He told the court that the
only reason, he was driving on the
occasion 'he was picked up was
because he thought he was doing
a favor for a friend.
GODERICH COMMUNITY
CREDIT UNION GROWING
The Goderieh Community Credit
Union has now about 350 members
and is aiming for a total member-
ship of about 500 for this year,
according to Harold Sanford, chair
man of the education committee.
The office at 40 Hamilton street,
now open evenings only, will be
opened full time frem July 21st
on and will be in charge of, Steve
Helesic, secretary -treasurer of the
Goderich Union. It is affiliated

Hamilton. One-quarter of all the
c.ommunity credit unions in Can-

testified that he gae. chase and
took down the license number
after watching the teen-ager's auto
slide broadside around two 'corn-
ers. •
' The magistrate Commented:
"Tey •have drag strips in various
cominunities in which drivers, can
let loose some of their steam with-
out danger to others." •
He warned that the streets of
Goderich or any other town should
not be used for manoeuvers that
one might expect to see on a drag
strp..
Howling of Tires•
• Mr. Sully, who lives at the cor-
ner of !Waterloo and St Patrick
streets, said that he had parked
his car on the boulevard. He had
let his children out of the car
when his attentibn was drawn • to
the howling .of tires made by an
auto torning Off West street onto
Waterloo.
"Ile slid around •the ' corner
broadside," said Mr. Sully, who
thought at first that this vehicle
was out of control. The same pro=
cedure ' was repeated at the next
corner, he testified. •
There were children playing
nearby, he told the cort.
Jumping into hig own car, Mr.
Sully caught up to .the auto driven
by the teen-ager. There were two
assengers in this car.
When he asked the driver to
produce his license, testified Mr.
Sully, one of the passengers said
"'You're not a cop, and away' they
went like a rocket."
Getting back into his', own car,
Mr. Sully followed. again and jotted

down the license number. Then
he went to the police station.
Jack , Thom, who pleaded • not
guilty, said he did not recall the
car sliding broadside at the corn-
ers, but said he might have been
going a little faster than normal
because he Was trying to catch up
to another auto in which he
thought -a relative of his had been
riding.
He denied that he had indulged
in some horsePlay to amuse. his
passengers or that he and his
passengers were 'laughing as they
drove through the course describ-
ed by Mr. Sully. 4,

The pupils of St. Joseph's School
of Music held their picnic at Har-
-b0r-Park
Races were conducted by Sister
M. Agnes, with the following re-

Kenneth Jeffrey; wheelbarrow race,
Mark Redmond, Bill Jeffrey; girls'

dash, Mrs. Leo Walzak, Margaret
Pierson, Mrs. R. Smith; blow the
feather, Lucy Brudnicki; relay race,
Edward Walzak, Kenneth Jeffrey;
kick -the -shoe, Edward Walzak;
needle and thread, Gail McAstock-
er and Mark Redmond.
Other winners were: Norma Wal-
ter, Michel Thurston, Gwendolyn
Redmond, Shirley 'Pierson, Terry
Rutledge.
A ball game was plaYed by two
tearris captained by Frank Taras
and Kenneth Jeffrey with Frank
Taras' team winning. A bountiful
supper was enjoYed by all.

KIRKTON GARDEN PARTY
Between 3,000 and 4,000 people
are expected to attend the annual
garden party or the • kton Com-
muhity Association • te'l Kirkton,
near Si. Marys, Wednesday, July
16.. The program starts at 6 p.m.
with a girls' softball game and at 9

at Clinton on Saturday will be
larger than 'usual due to new ar-
rangemeos made. In order that
better organized and better dis-
tributed July 12th celebratioos
might be held,- the Orange lodges
of the three counties of Hurn,
Perth aod Bruce ,have formed an
alliance to co-operate their Worts.
In whichever three of the coun
ties the July 12th parade is held
between new and 1962 it will be
the respoosibility of Ihe county
lodge to 'select a town for the
day's program.
