has accepted a- position as book-
keeper with Pounder Brothers,: of

JeIiss Elizabeth Pentland " was
home with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Pentland. She has com-
pleted a year at Alma College, St.
Thomas, and was successful in win-
ning the $200 Thomas Foundation
bursary. In the meantime, she has
been employed by V.L.A., London.
Mr. Heber Eedy left by motor
for the West for three or four
weeks and will, take in the Calgary
Stampede.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Marsh and
Betty, of Petersburg, near Guelph,
visited on Saturday with Mrs.
Minnie Jones and Mel.
Mr. and (.Mrs. Frank Glenn visit-
ed on Sunday with their daughter,
Mrs. Herb Pocock, Mr. Pocock and

pitalized"" a few days with virus
pneumonia, `but is able to be home

Presbyterian Church attended the
Presbyterial executive meeting of
W.M.S. auxiliaries at Jangside
Presbyte,ian Church on Wednes-
day of last week. They were Mr.
and Mrs. Mason McAllister, Miss
Iva Carr, Mrs. R. Fitzgerald, Mrs.
W. A'.' Stewart and Miss Elizabeth
McMillan.
(Miss Evylin Smyth, -who-is-Anish-
ing collegiate at Goderich this
week and who will enter a hospital
for nurse training in the fall, has,
been engaged' for the summer
months at a cottage at Amberley
Beach.
Mr. and Mrs: Kitchener Finnigan

next week leaving on a trip to the
West. '
Mrs. W. R. Andrew returned
Saturday after spending a week
with her son, Harvey Andrew, and
Mrs. Andrew, Cromarty.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Irvin and
Betty, on Sunday attended anniver-
sary service at Zion and visited her

Ritchie, in that district.

patients at Wingham. hospital, Mr.

joyed as 'an annual outing a train
ride via Lueknow to Wingham

While the trip this year was ,not
so distant, local sights and local
interests were enjoyed.'
The annual memorial service at
Dungannon cemetery will be held
next Sunday, June 29th, at 4.30
p.m, Local clergymen ,will be pre-
sent. Rev: W. 'McClean will con-
duct. Rev. R. Kennedy is giving
the adcires's and Rev. 11. L. Jen-
nings offering prayer. There,,��wwil•1
be special music for the occasion.
In case of rain or inclement wea-
ther, the service will be itx. the
United Church.
The annual service of the local
Orange Order, No. 324, will -be held
next Sunday, June 29th, at 8 p.m.

the 44th annual. (Mrs. Robt. Mc-
Allister also gave details. Mrs.

Rev. Jas. Dickson, a missionary in
Formosa. 'Mrs. Ken Hodges gave
a chapter in the study book, Indon-
esia. Mrs. W. McClean closed with
prayer, The hostesses assisted Mrs.
Wilson with afternoon lunch.

her father, wore a 'ballerina -length
sleeveless empire gown of white
embossed nylon fashioned ' wtth
sweetheart neckline ' and flared
skirt with„ soft pleats at centre
back. The 'matching jacket had
long pointed sleeves and pointed
stand-up collar. She carried a
white .orchid on a white prayer
'book.. ,.
-Miss ,,Frances Morris, sister of
the bride,' was matron of honor.
She wore a blue embossed nylon,
regal styled gown along princess
lines with a V neckline. She car-
ried a cascade of white shasta
mums. .
Mr. Jim Smith, of Goderich, was
groomsman.
The reception was held at the
home of the bride's parents. For
travelling the bride chosea blue
crystalline dress with matching
accessories.

Marriage vows were exchanged
by Hilda Emily Hicks and William
George McClinchey in a pretty
ceremony at the United Church
parsonage, Bayfield, . on Saturday
afternoon. The bride is the Baugh•
ter of . Mr. and 'Mrs. Maurice Hicks,
Goderich 'Township,' and the
g'room's parents are Mr. and `Mrs.
Ernest McCiinchey, of Varna. Rev.
C. E. Peacock, "performed the cere-
mony.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was.,,lovely in, a ballerina -
length .gown of dotted nylon over
white taffeta, fashioned with bouf-
fant skirt. The bodice featured a
sabrina neckline an a taffeta cum-
merbund accented with fabric rose
buds. She wore matching mittens.
Her finger-tip veil of embroidered
net was caught to a wreath of
white forget-me•nnts and she car-
ried a shower bouquet of red roses.
Miss Joan McClinchey, sister. of
the groom, as maid of honor, wore
an Empire -styled, French blue
.crystalette dress' with white acces-
sQries :and carried a bouquet of
.pink carnations:
Wilfred Hicks, brother of ' the
bride, was best man.
The reception was held at the
home of the bride where the guests
were received by the bride's mo-
ther wearing" a green and brown
flowered terylene dress 'with white
accessories and a corsage of yel-
low carnations. • The groom's mo-
ther assisted in a turquoise cotton
lace over taffeta dress witn match-
ing taffeta sash, snatching acces-
sories •-and a corsage of yellow
carnation's.
F,or her wedding trip to the
United States, Mrs. McClinc'hey
chose a blue flowered glazed cotton
dress with white accessories and a
corsage of red roses.

'For travelling, the bride chose

white accessories. The eouple will'
live in Toronto.

Red and white peonies formed
the decoration for the -annual din-
ner of the "'Gederich Business Col-
lege held at the Bedford Hotel on
Saturday evening with 38 present.
During the dinner hour, ' Miss
Doris Johnston played several sel-
ections on the marimba and Miss
Carol Pepper accompanied at 'the
piano. The selections rendered by
these talented musicians were en-
joyed by the group. The guest
speaker for the evening was John
D. McLeod of the Unemployment
• Insurance Commission. His ad-
dress was informative and was ap-
preciated. A sing -song was en-
joyed with Mr. Bert Kempster as

sults for June have been received
from the Business Educators' As-
sociation, diplomas and' typewrit,
ing certificates will be mailed.
Typewriting awards have been
granted to the following students
for 60 words and over: Joyce Greer,
Carol Opfer, Diane Cundari and
Dorothy .Flynn. Awards to date
for 50 words and over are as fol-

stead commemorating the 100th
anniversary of the property being
in the Ball name since being
bought from the Canada Company.
It was then suggested to have "get
well" cards sent to Mrs. Dora
Shobbrooke and Mrs. Amos Ball
who are patients in a London hos-
pital.
