Prior to the' official opening of
the hospital a letter to the editor
appeared in , The Goderich Star
from Dr. Alex Ta$rlor. He spoke of
it as "an institution that was very
much needed In ' the County of
Huron." Continuing, he said,
"There has been a difference of
opinion as to the location and con-
struction of the hospital; but now

located, I think we had better drop
whatever differences of 'opinions
we may have had, and work unitedly
to make it a success, which, I am
sure, is only a matter of a very
short time.','
‘So concluded' the accounts in,
The, Goderich Star of 1906 dim the

It has been stated that many
people strenuously objected to the
location . of the hospital. They
thought it might bring some dis-
ease to them, or .lower the value
of their property near it. This
strange viewpoint disappeared with
the passing ' of the years.
