Britain" objective was stepped up,
and each.. gear. that stepped-up qb-
jective was exceeded so that by
January, 1948, almost 50,000,000
quarts- of life-giving-.milkhad been..
shipped in the form of milk powder
to the little children of Great Bri-

possible by the raising of
$2,630,000 during the four years
ending in August, 1945. ,
As the ":Milk for Britain" Cam-

worse than during the war years,
so a new project came into being
by resolution passed at the 1947
National Convention—Food Parcels
for Britain. Under the energetic
leadership of a national committee
in Vancouver, the campaign was
carried on for approximately 18
months, raising some $106,000.
Subsequent- to 'the cessation of
'the War Service Projects, a
Cancer Scholarship Committee
was set up in •1949-50.
The end result was the
opportunity for promising - young
doctors from across Canada to take

Local Work
Largest single effort of the Kins-
men Club of Goderich has been the
playground for children at the
south end of the . town in which
they have spent some $22,000. The
club's Octogenarian Club is well
and favorably known and brings
untold pleasure to the senior citi-
zens. The Trade Fair, sponsored
by the Kinsmen, has grown stead-
ily and is today one , of the out-
standing events in the town's an-
nual list of events. In past years,
the club has also sponsored the
Air Cadets and the safety patrol
for the school children.
Among the past presidents of
the club are Frank Skelton, R. H.
Cornish, Sid Shenton, Bill McGrath,
Earl Rawson, Bert Such, .Carl
Banks, Ken Pennington, - Jack
