Under the banner of The Salva-
tion Army, a wedding of local in-
terest took place on Saturday after-
noon at 2.45 at the Citadel, Water-
loo street, decorated with bronze
mums for the occasion. Sr. Major
C. N. Strickland, of Windsor, heard
the wedding vows of John James
Harold Johnstone, son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. E. Johnstone, of Kin -
tail, and Ivy Jane Jewell, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Ruddock, of Goderich.
The bridesmaid was Sr. Major
E. J. Clarke, of Toronto, and Mr.
A. Wolffe, of Goderich, -attended
the groom.

Mrs. Wilfrid Donaldson played,
the wedding music and accom-
panied 'Mrs. Clarence Chishdm, the'
bride's niece, as she sang, "The
Lord's Prayer."
Guests from out of town were
Sr. Major and Mrs. C. N. Strickland,
of Windsor; Misses Betty McArthur
and Gladys Skinner, of London.
A reception was held for the
wedding party at the Club Grill.
They will reside in Goderich. Prior
to her wedding, friends and neigh
bors of the bride held a surprise
party and presented her with
beautiful gifts.
'Former District
Resident -On CBC
A recent TV program of the
'CBC, showing the progress of
the Peace River district, held
special interest for Douglas,
Bruce and Wallace McDougall,
of Goderich Township.
On the program appeared
their brother, Roy McDougall,
who left Goderich Township
about SO years ago and who
now lives at Findlay Forks,
B.C. It also showed the store
he operates and Mr. McDoug-
all's wife and granddaughter.
Another brother, "Scotty" who
won renown as a wrestler, lives
at Boise, Idaho- When Roy
McDougall Larst went to the
Peace River strict S years
ago he received his mail once
a year and had to travel more
than 300 miles for supplies.
Today, the picture is vastly dif-
ferent,A as the TV program
showed. Tremendous strides
have been made in the de-
velopment of the country.

Mrs. Norman .McIntlis has return-
ed from Toronto where she visited
with her son, William McInnis,
Mrs. McInnis and family. Mr. Mc-
Innis is transferred to the mail
service in Owen Sound.

of Mrs. Wilfred Larder. Alice Mc-
Graw played Christmas music and
all joined–in a sing -song.
Mrs. Morley, sr., read a Christ-
mas poem. Mrs. Goad read a
poem.
The following donations were
voted: ten dollars to War Mem-
orial Hospital; $5 to Muscular Dys-
trophy; a basket for sick membersi
cards to shut-ins. Mrs. Rean won
the shut-in prize and Mrs. Maude
Jewell the mystery prize.

JOINS TORONTO ARGONAUTS

with the I.Lfakeshore Bears during
the past season, has signed to
play with the Toronto Argonauts
for 1950.
Be is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Doug. Graham, of Brampton, and,,
formerly of Goderich. Bill Graham
was born in Goderich.
