After the Sing- ing of Christmas carols, the Super- intendent, Charles Scott, spoke words of welcome. Rev. R.-5: Weitz, minister, presided for the program. The nursery class under Mrs, Leenard Archambault and Mrs. Edward East, sang "two pumbers. • The kindergarten class, led by Mrs. It: S. Hiltz and Mrs. Charles Millian, gave a pantomime around the manger. Miss Christine Cunning- ham accompanied them. Miss Fame Mutch's crass sang a chorus. A recitation was given by Allan Craig and a- solo was sung by Sherry' Toll. 'A duet was sung by I Marti ,Koopmans and,Anne Speidle- berm fellowed by a chorus by Mrs. George Millian's class. Mrs. Fred Toll's class presented a Christmas play. Jehn McClinchey gave a piano number and the Senior Bible class represented by Oliver Ander- son and George Million, dressed in eostuMe, sang two numbers. Sante distributed over 10 hag of candY. The fifth meeting of the Auburn Annettea was hcid at the home of the leader, Mrs. Alfred Nesbitt last Friday. Betty Youngbitit vice. preaident, opened the meeting. A demonstration of the care of wool was given by ars. Ed. Davies and Mrs. Nesbitt. Next meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Davies in the form of a Christmas party on December 13 with- .a gift ex- change. Betty Youngblut and Marilyn Deer served lanai. St. Mark's Anglican Guild. --..-The December meetingof St. Mark's Anglican Church GuiJd was held at the home of Mrs. Sam Daer on Tuesday of last week. The presi- dent, Mrs. John- Daer, opened the Meeting. Scripture was read by Mrs. Alfred Nesbitt with prayers led by Rev. Bren de Vries. ' Mrs. Gordon Taylor sang a solo. Mrs. Herbert Govier 'gave a reading. Ret de Vries gave on address on Christmas in the trenches 'during the last 3,yer. Mrs. Re J. Phillips played a plane soil?. The minutes were read by the f$eeretary, Mrs. Ed. Davies, and the treasurer's report was given by 'Mrs. Gordo Taylor. The roll call was answered by giving a donation to the Indian Schoel at Muncey and a large box of used clothing was also received 'for the Indians. It was decided to remember the children and shut-ins for Clarlet- may. IVirs. Sam Daer thanked all who had taken part in the program. The president thanked all who had helped her during the year and thanked the ladies who had charge of the congregational supper held recently. Mrs. J. Deer, Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell and Mrs. George Schneider accepted to act on the program committee. Rev. Bren de Vries took charge of the election of officers which resulted as follows: president, Mrs. John Daer; vice president, Mrs. Tom Haggitt; secre- tary, Mrs. Ed. Davies; treasurer, Mrs. Gordon Taylor; 'card secretary, Mrs. Sam Deer ani Mrs. G. Taylor; preSs reporter, Mrs. Ed. Davies; program committee, Mrs. J. Daer, Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell and Mrs. -George Schneider. The meeting was closed with prayer, followed by a successful auction. Lunch was seryed by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. J. Daer. The W.M.S. of Kuox United Church held their December meet- ing which wag conducted by the president, Mrs. Earl Wightman. Mrs, Harold Webster gave the treasurer's ,sport. The corres- ponding secretary, Mrs. Ernest Durnin, read a thank -you letter from Mrs. Fleming. The Christ- mas boxes are to be packed by ‘Mrs. William Straughan, Mrs. Fred Plaetzer and Mrs. William T. Robi- son. All donations are requested to be left at Mrs. Straughan's by December 17. All mite boxes are to be handed- to the treasurer be- fore the end of the year. Reports on the West Sectional meeting were given by Miss Margaret R. Jackson and Mrs. Ernest Durnin. Mrs. Sidney McClinchey conducted the program. Mrs. Harry Arm- strong read the Scripture. A duet was sung by Mrs. S. McClinehey and Mrs. W. J. Craig. Mrs. Gordon McClinchey gave a reading. The offering was received by Mrs. Harry Armstrong. Mrs. S. Mc- Clinchey gave an account from the study book. She also played sever- al accordian selections. Mrs. Wightman closed with prayer!' Horticultural Meeting. — The Auburn Orange Hall was beauti- fully decorated last Tuesday even- ing for the .Christmas meeting of the Horticulture Society. Mrs,, Gordon Taylor, president, presid- ing. The X.P.U. of the United Church held their Christmas concert last Wednesday. Mr. Lloyd McDowell was in charge. Scripture was read by John Buchanan, Marlene Easom and Elva Gross received the offer- ing. It was decided to send $15 to missions. Lloyd McDowell gave the topic on World Missions. The election of officers resulted as fol- lows: president, Louise Jefferson; 1st vice-president, Gerald Mc- Dowell; secretary, Carol Arm- strong; treasurer, Marlene Easom. A White Gift service was held last Sunday at Knox United Church. The music wars supplied by the Junior Choir under the dir- ection of the church organist, Miss Margaret A. Jackson. The church was decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree and a white man- ger. "Three Wise Men," William Anderson, John Wright and John McClinchey, in costume, received the gifts and placed them in the manger. During the receiving of the offering, the organist, with Miss Margo Grange at the piano, played a duet ,of Christmas hymns. Bren de Vries will be the guest speaker and the meeting will be held in Knox Presbyterian Church basement at 2.15 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin and family, of Wingham, spent last Sunday with her parerits, Mr. and Mrs. William Straughan. Miss Ruth Daer, of Atwood, spent the week -end with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Daer and family. Mr. Charles Asquith visited re- cently with Mr. Tom Adams in Sunnybrook Hospital. Friends in the village wish Mr. Adams ...a speedy recovery. 'Mr. Gordon Daer had a bone broken in his foot recently while working at the Craig Sawmill. Mr. and Mrs. Reg Asquith and family, of Islington, visited recent: ly with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Asquith. Mrs. Harold McElroy, of Cal- gary (formerly Ethel Murdoch, of Auburn), with her son and daugh- ter, were among the families who attended the memorial service held by the T.C.A. in British Columbia on Moaday, December 8. The late M. Harold McElroy was killed in a plane which crashed last year. Congratulations to Mrs. James Raithby and Mrs. George Sturdy, of Clinton, vidao celebrated recently together their 85th twin birthday. Friends of Mrs. Lloyd Raithby will be sorry- to learn that she is a patient in a London hespital. . Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer returned home recently with her new son. Miss Ma Gross is assisting at the Plaetzer home. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Powell (nee Donna Hag - gift) on the birth of their son in Goderich° hospital. ' ‘ Mystery Lights.—With so much talking and looking for peculiar lights and objects in the sky, Pretty bright ring around the moon last Tuesday evening. Older resi- dents said they had never seen such a one before. Hope it's a sign of a mild winter. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Craig have moved to the apartment in- the top storey of his father's home.
