County FarmForums Bold Annual Meeting Huron County -Farm Forums met for their annual meeting in the Blyth Memorial Hall Wednesday evening of last week with about 100 present. "— alis. s. Winston Shapton, of Exeter, congratulated the ladies of the Eastern Star for a fihe banquet pro- fessionally served. The County President, Mrs. Vera Greig, presided and commented on the activities of the Provincial organization of which she is first vice-chairman. Doug. McNeil, president of Huron County Federation of Agri- culture, brought greetings and thanked the forums for the. support and valuable ideas that they origin- ate. Many important resolutions have been developed through the forums for presentation to Govern- ment by the Ontario Federation of: Agriculture. Charles Coultes, chairman of the,. county Federation C.I.A. cominit- tee, complimented Huron drivers on their good accident free record in 1957. Any influence that Farm Forum can have on encouraging safe driving will be greatly ap- preciated, he said. Roger Schwass, of the Tarin De- partment of CKNX, was guest speaker, showing slides of his trip through Western Canada and Unit- ed States. Township Directors were elected as follows: Mrs. O., McCharles, Robt. Yuill, Mussel Knight, Bob McMillan, Eric Anderson, Ted Mills, Bill Taylor, Fred Lobb, John Soldan, Earl Haist, Louis Johns. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Adams, of Wingham, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Don Paquette `and family. Mr. and Mrs. Mel Henry and daughters visited on Sunday with -Mr. and Mrs. Chester Finnigan and David. Mr. Roy Culbert, of Galt, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Duffle, of HamiT ton. were here at the week -end and attended a gathering in honor of the fortieth wedding annivers- ary•of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Culbert. Guild Holds Final Meeting ForYear St. George's Churchwoman's Guild held their final meeting of the year on Tuesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Munday, opened the meeting with prayer and Mrs. Palmer read the Scrip- ture. During the business session, re- presentatives were appointed to help pack Christmas boxes and money was voted for Sunday School Christmas treats, and the Children's Aid Society. Cheques amounting to $540.00 were presented by the various groups, and it was decided to use the money for the purchase of new tables. .Mrs: B. Goldthorpe very kindly donated salt and pepper dusters for the banquet tables. A nominating committee of Mrs, Videan, Mrs. Legg and Mrs. Todd was appointed to bring in a slate of officers for the new year. Miss Helen' Videan was the guest speaker and gave a most interest- ing account of her recent trip to the Western Coast and Southern States. To conclude the meeting, a de- licious lunch was served ,by Mrs. Legg, Mrs. Videan and Mrs. Mumby. Figure Skating Clu Say Ice Times Unsuitable After being in operation for the past five or six years, the Galeria Figure Skating Club Inas folded up. The club's president, Harold )0/Ma- lian, claims the reason, for the club's demise is "lack of co -oiler~ ation from the secretary of the Goderich Recreation and Arena Committee." Four carloads of Coderich figure skaters now travel to Clinton each Saturday where they join vvith Clinton figure skaters in practising at the arena there from 1 to ( p.m. Last year, according to Mr. Bren- nan, the Goderich 'Figure Skating Club ended the year owing the Gpderich Arena $400 but had $15 in the Walt. Another member- of the Figure Skating Club executive stated, "The Goderich Arena Conunittee never did see figure skating as a recre- ation project. They always figured it was some sort of a social club operated for the upper crust, which it most definitely wasn't." CLINTON LIONS NET ,$1,000 FROM GREY CUP DRAW Donald Warner, Bayfield true* driver, won the $500 prize in tete annual draw Field by the Clintoip Lions Club in connection with the Grey Cup Football game. Warner held the correct score com- bination. The winding ticket was3 sold by George L'avis. The Clinton Lions Club netted more than $1,006 from the project.
