PHONE 131 Five Award Winners At GDCI Are Announced The Department of Educa- tion has announced awards of Dominion -+Provincial Student Aid, Bursaries to students of Goderich, District Collegiate In- stitute as follows: University Buraaries of $500 each to Prances Dalton and Gwendolyn McDowell. Prances is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Dalton, of Kings- bridge, and Gwendolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Nor- man McDowell, of West Wawanosh. A Grade 13 Bursary of $14)i) to Ironald Moore, so.,. of Mr. and Mn. ,Elfred Moore of Colborne - Township. The trustees of the Donald '.lkaser and Family Scholarship have announced awards of $7 scholarships to each of the following: Brian McLean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mian of Blab street and. Karl Schmidt son of Mrs. Marianne Schmidt of St. Andrew's street. � Enrollment On Tuesday Is Expected To Be About The Same As last Year The principals of the various schools in Goderich are unable to state at this time just about how many pupils will be enrolled at the schools when they open cu Tuesday, September 3, 'blit feel the number will be somewhere near that of last year. On opening day last year a total of 1,423 students were enrolled. The breakdown was as follows: Goderich ,Public School, 310; Gode- rich District Collegiate Institute, 455; -St. -Peter's . ,eparate School, 128; Goderich 'Busih,ess College, 30. Shackleton of the Goderich Public School states that several families have moved from Goderich sjice school closed last June. On the other hand, he stated, he has already, been notified of more than half -a dozen new pupils in town who will be at riding Public School. The turn- over in pupils, those moving here and those moving away from town, has been greater in the past two or three years, he said.
