T OITh» O ' SIGNAL-ST
FROM REV. R. L GREEN
This past tray Months have beenQ
ones of great aetavity'at the vorner
aof. ,Elgin Avenu° and W'Vatcrloo
Street Goderich. The eyes- of
the whole community have rested
on the 'Labour of Love' which has
gone into the erection of the new
Bethel Pentecostal Tahernaele.
Today, what was formerly a dream,
has 'become a reality due to the
unstinted volenteer help offered
by interested friends of this
church.
i
As the miniater, I have appreci-
ated all the words of praise the
people of this town have offered
me personally but actually I have
played Qty a small part in the
project. It_ has been those who
have, worked together with us so
faithfully, devoting long hours at
personal seacriflce, who deserve
the credit for this venture. Young
and old, men and women, members
and adherents have worked and to
all these I would say in deep grat-
itude a hearty 'Thank You.'
Special mention should be made
of the work done by Mr. Moses
Martin of this town who was the
only, carpenter employed during
the framing and construction last
summer and fall- Then, the busi-
ness people with whom we dealt,
were so accommodating and help -
fig; so to these we offer our
thanks. .

New Church Is To
Be Dedicated On
Sunday, Sept. lst
The total cost, furnished, of the
new Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle,
which will be officially dedicated
on Sunday, was approximately
$20,000, However, the church was
built with voluntary labor, and
would otherwise have cost con-
siderably more.
The former building, which was
located almost on the same site,
was cal old Goderich residence. It
was demolished in June, 1956, in
preparation for the building of the
fine new church, the size of which
is 36 feet by 68 feet. • •
First services were held in the
new church in •the lower auditor-
ium in October, 1956, before the
rest of the building had been com-
pleted for occupancy.
There are spacious parking facil-
ities on the church property just\
to the north 'el the church. The
lower auditorium contains nine
classrooms and a Sunday School
office.
The sanctuary on the main floor
of -the building is carpeted with
rug. The walls End ceiling are
painted in a powder blue celotex.
There is sculptured white tile and
• all woodwork is silver grey stained
dered we have erected the church
for under $20,000 and have furnish-
ed it with quality church -furnish-
ings. Now after all the service
we have rendered, we humbly offer
unto the Lord this our gift, to be
used for the furtherance of the
Kingdom of God in this area.

West Wawanosh Sets 7
Mill Rate For. Residences
And 9 For ,Commercial
The general township rate for
1957 was set at seven mills for
residential and agricultural pro-
perties and nine mills for com-
mercial properties at the August
meeting of West Wawanosh Town -
Ship Council. This motion 'was
moved by Councillor Miller slid
seconded by Councillor Culbert.
-Other rates for 195/7 are: County
rate, 12.75 mills (approximately);
Goderich Collegiate School District,
9 mills; Lucknow High School Dis-
trict, 6.2 mills; West Nillawariosh
Township School Area, 3.l i*iills...
Considerable discussion took.
place regardin,g the striking of the
general Township rates for 1957.
According to new departmental
regulations, each municipality must
set two separate rates for general
municipal purposes—one rate for
residential and agricultural proper-
ties and another rate foe profes-
sional and commercial properties.
This is chiefly due to the 'allotment
of the unconditional per capita
grants (195/), it was pointed out.
On motion of Councillors McPhee
and 'Culbert, the following accounts
were ordered paid: Mrs. May Smith,
relief albowance, 117.61; Huron
County indigent patioits. account,
$57.00; Township Hall hydro bill,
$6.07; faie hountys of $1 each to
the follo-tving, John S., D)urnin, Bill
Leddy, Albert Phili!rps, Harold
Errington, 'Keith Good, and $2 to
the following, Arthur Moore,
Robert Jefferson, Nelsc,i Culbert,
Kenny :Purves, Arnold w'Andrews
