Joint services of Westfield, Don-
nybrook and Auburn United
Churches were held last Sunday in
Auburn with I'-ev. Mr. Clark, of
Winghain, in charge. Special
music was supplied by the trio,
Mrs. Betty Wilkin, Mrs. H. Worsell,
Oodericla; and, Mr. William S.
(Wig, of Clinton. Mrs. Norman
Wightman presided at the organ.
On Anust 11, services will be held
at 11 a.m. with Mr. Donald Snell
as speaker. August 18--Don.ny-
brook, 11 aom., Rev. Mr. Clark,
Wingham. August 25 — Auburn,
11 a .m. and 8 p.m. Speaker, Rev.
William Fingland, Niagara Falls,
and guest soloist, 1Vir. Harvey Mc-

Mrs. George Hamilton has return-
ed from visiting her sister, Mrs.
Marian Rutledge, of Seaforth. She
also visited friends at Windsor.
Walden Reunion.—tRelatives and
friends from Seaforth Detroit, Lon-
don, Calgary, Hensail, Blyth and
Auburn enjoyed a reunion at the
home of Mr. William Walden on
Saturday, July 27. The guests
numbering around 65, enjoyed the
afternoon in friendly chatter, with
races, swings and a ball game. Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Harburn, Hensall,
Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Soott and Mr.
Earl Caldwell; were in ohargd of
the program of sports. Mr. and
Mre. John Caldwell were the oddest
lady and man present. A picnic
supper was enjoyed en the spacious
lawn., Mr. Orv;i1 McGowan waselected president for next year
with a committee of Mrs. Orval Me -
Gowan, Mr. Don Blotter and sister
Joyce, Mr. Percy Walden, Miss
Viola Thomson and Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd McClinchey. Mr. and Mrs.
Orval McGowan invited _everyone
to come to their home for the
reunion in 1958.

DONGYBRO,OZ, Aug. 6.— Wdrd
hasbeen received her of the
death of John Foran in Vancouver.
1l.r. Foran, who was born e>aa. the
9th concession, West Wawanosh
72 years ago was the eldest son. of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah
Foran. About 30 ',years ago he
joined the Toronto police force.
11e went West and served as a
police officer in Winnipeg aud Van-
eouver. Upon his retirement from
the Vazanouvexolice, four years
ago, he was a detective. Besides
his widow, he is survived by three
sons, four sisters -and two brothers,
Thomas of West Wuwanosh and
Michael, of Toronto.
A large crowd attended the re-
ception in, .honor of Mr. and Mrs.
James Leddy in Dungannon Agri-
cultural Hall on Wednesday even-
ing. Music for chiming was pro-
vided by Bruce's orchestra. At
the lunch hour, Jim and „Margaret
were called to the platform where
Mr. Gordon Foran read an address
expressing the good wishes of those
assembled. Mr. Gordon Naylor
presented them with a purse of
money. Jim madea suitable reply
and all joined in singing "For they
are Jolly Good Fellows."
The August meeting of the WMS
and WA will be held at the home
of Mrs. Harold Woods on Tuesday,
August 13.
There will be no church service
at Dcunybrook next Sunday but
Sunday School will be held at 10
a.m. A joint service will be held
at Westfield Church next Sunday
and at Donnybrook the following
1 Sunday. Rev. Hiltz Ls on vaeation
this month.

Juliet Dreyfus; of Manchester, Eng-
land, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. Corran. Miss Dreyfus and
Mrs. Corran haven't seen each
other for 20 years, but Mr. Corran
visited at the Dreyfus home while
in England with the Canadian
forces.

KINTAIL, Aug. 5.—The August
meeting of the Kintail Institute
took the form of a picnic at the
Ashfield picnic grounds. A good
crowd turned up to enjoy the
water, games, and races. The re -
cult of the races is as follows: 5
years and under, Christine Mc -

rish; 7 years and under, Nancy
McLennon, Arthur Weirsma, Alma
Farrish; 9 years and under, Larry

McLennon. The lady with the
most buttons on her dress was
Mrs. Hugh McKenzie. Balloon

MoLennon. Lunch was quickly
prepared and was enjoyed by all.
Then someone suddenly produced
peanuts for a peanut scramble.
The children ,could stili bend over
to piek them up so could not have
overeaten. The boy who scramb-
led and -came up with the most
peanuts was Larry Farrish. Mrs.
Will Johnstone had her birthday
nearest to August 1. Anne Mc-
Kenzie guessed to the nearest
pound the weight of the president.
Everyone went home tired, well
fed and happy from a very nice
picnic, and we owe a vote of thanks
to, the committee in charge.
