PORTER'S HILL
PORTER'S, HPLL, July 15.—The
Julymeeting of the W.A. was held
in the church basement. The pre-
sident opened the meeting Feld
Mrs. Wilmer Harrison led in pray-
er. Scripture was read by 'Mrs.
Gordon Manning. The roll all
was. answered by naming "Your
Favorite Picnic Spot" by 15 ladies.
Plans were made for catering for a
we'dd:ng to be held the early part
of August. The ladies accepted
an invitation to hold their August
meeting at the summer cottage of
Mrs, Ellison Cox and Dorothy Cox.
During the afternoon, a quilt was
quilted.
- The Parsonage Board cofnmittee
from Porter's Hill met with the
committee from Bayfield last
Thursday evening, The new . of-
ficers for this year are: 'Chairman,
Austin Harris; secretary, 'Mrs. J.
L'ndsay; treasurer, Mrs. J. Scotch -
mer. It was decided to buy a few
articles for the parsonage and also
to hold a supper in Bayfield church
en August 5. A lovely lunch was
njoyed. Rev. Peacock closed the
meeting with prayer.

said the closing prayer and lunch
was served by the hostess.

Bayfield, is spending his ten day
leave from the Navy at the ,Proctor
cottage.
Sunday visitors at the Proctor
cottage were: Mr. end Mrs. Wil-
liam McGuire, Goderich; Mr. and
Mrs. John F. Swalley, Toleaao, Ohio.
While in Bayfield, Mr. Swalley did
an oil painting of the fishing vil-
lage on the Bayfield River.
Mr. and Mrs. Win. Munroe, Lcu-
don, are at their• home in the
village.
Miss Helen McLeod, Londcu,
spent the week -end with her mo-
ther, Mrs. W. J. McLeod.

week with Mrs. 'McAvoy's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bogie.
Barbara Foster returned home
Saturday after spending two weeks

her uncle and aunt, 'Mr.. and Mrs.
J. Pitblado.

istant of Wingham General Hos-
pital, spent the week -end at the

Miss Barbara Calhoun spent her
vacation visiting in Toronto with

Elizabeth Foster who passed away
in the Goderich hospital Saturday,
July 13, 1957.

since suffering a heart attack. Mr.
Pryde was mowing his lawn at
Exeter when he :became ill. His
condition is reported as improv:ng.
OBITUARY
MISS _ELIZAiBBETH FOSTER
Miss Elizabeth Foster, who was
a patient at Alexandra Hospital,
Goderich, for the last six years,
died on Saturday mornaig in her
90th year. She was a daughter
of the late 'Mr. Irwin Fosteroand
Ellen Graham and was born in
Ashfield Township where she. lived
her entire life.
She was a member of Christ
Church, Port Albert, and a life-
long member of the Ladies' Guild.
• One sister, Mrs. Orland Ralph,
of Lumsden, Sask., Survives. The
late John Foster, a former resident
of Goderich, was a brother.

THOMAS HENRY BRADLEY
Many attended the funeral of
Thomas Henry Bradley •on Satur-
day afternoon at the Lodge funeral
home. Rev. K. E. Taylor conduct-
ed the service at the funeral home
and at the graveside in Maitland
cemetery. Mr. Bradley ,passed
away . suddenly at hie home on
Huron road on Wedeesday even-
ing of Iast eveek. He conducted
a wholesale auto parts business en
Hamilton street for same years.
Mr. Bradley was born in Eng-
land and came to Canada with has
parents, .the late Arthur Bradley
and Hannah 1Broadhouse, 57 years
ago. "He lived in Gravenhurst be-
fore coming to Goderich. He was
a member of St. George's Anglian
,Church.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Mable B'Eye, are four sons,
Henry, Arthur (Bob) and William,
of Goderich, Lloyd, of Sebringville,
and four daughters, Mrs. Herb.
Bridle (Margaret), of Clinton, Mrs.
Lee Moorcroft (Olive), of Toronto,
Mrs. Chas. Haddad rwreblel of
Byron, and Mrs. Thos. Woolvett
tDorothy), of Sarnia. There are
also two brothers, Edward, of Lon-
don, and Reginald, of Gravenhurst,
as well as a sister, Mrs. Sam Foot,
cf Thornhill, surviving_ .
The pallbearers at the funeral
were Finlay Samis, Ralph Joslin,
Reg. McGee, Graham Inglis, Fred
Rouse and Don Aberhai t.

The work of the Children's Aid
Society was related by .Miss Gert-
rude Wilkes at the July meeting of
the Goderich Women's Institute.
Miss Wilkes told of the 'patience,
understanding and kindness neces-
sary in the work for the children.
The guest speaker was introduc-
ed by Mrs. Chaffee, superihtendent
of the C.A.S., who also expressed
appreciation to the W.I., for gifts
they had made to the C.A.S.
Plans were finalized for the
Navy League Tag Day to be held
in
August. Mrs. W. garrison is
