The Rev. Oren die Vries presented a class of 14 can- didates. Mr. Lawrence Nesbitt was the B ishop''s staObearer and. Miss Margaret Clank organist. In ad- dressing the newly confirmed mem- bers, Beehop Townshend recalled his boyhood days spent in this section of Huron County and men- tioned how pleaeed he was to renew old acquaintances and be in this district again. The follow- ing members were confirmed: James Schneider, Anna Marie Schneider; Eileen S c h n e i d e r, Sanda'a i Ware, Mary Kirkconnell, Carolyn Clark, Christopher Hutch- inson, Peter de Vries, Mary Nesbitt, Dorothy Bailie, John Kennedy David George, Mrs.'H. Gibbons and Mrs. A. Nethery. After the ser- vice a social hour Was enjoyed in the Orange Hall where the con- gregations of Auburn, #lyth and Belgrave had an opportunity to meet with Bishop and Mrs. Town- shend. This confirmation class at- tended their first communion at Blyth on Sunday at 8.30 a.m. and were entertained at the rectory for breakfast after the service. Farmer's Union Meets. --A meet- ing of the Huron County Farmer's Union was held in the Agricultural Board Rooms, Clinton, recently. Mr. Bob Taylor presided. Mrs. Jack Armstrong was secretary. A letter of thanks was read from Mr. J. Mcritgomery, former Agriculture Representative for Huron ~County, and Mrs. Montgomery; also a letter from A V. Cormack, Ontario presi- dent regarding sending delegates to the I.F.U. convention. Mrs. Jack Armstrong gave a report on the board meeting held in Toronto. It was decided to hold the annual picnic at Seaf6rth LiOn's`Parle 01T - July 23. The various committees were appointed to be in charge. Mr. Gordon Hill outlined the meet- ing of the Beef Producer's meeting he had attendedepreviously for the Union meeting. It was decided se•!u•d t,wo delegates from Hiifi n' County to the Winnipeg Conven- tion. Mr. Bob Taylor ;introduced the guest speaker of the meeting, Mr. Alan Campbell, director,. for Oxford County, who outlined the progress of. the Farm Union in his county. After a discussion period, lunch was served by the Holm esville Local. 'John Youngblut. - Mr. John Youngblut passed away on Thurs- day, 'July 4, in -Clinton hospital after an illness of two months in his 80th year. Mr: Yourigblat 'was the son of the late Mr. Eckert Youngblut and Amelia Pieke and at O.S. No. 0, Huilett. He was mar ri,t>.t; to Ida Mae Shultz who pre- deceased hian a few year& ago. For over 35 years he was employed as a section man with the C.B.R. but was retired a, number of years ago. He was a member of the Lutheran, ChUrch. For over 50 years, Mr. Youngblut was a mem- ber of the Loyal Orange Lodge and was made a ,life member about 10 years ago. For many years he was the first on the street :u traditional costume -for the walk on the 12th.' He was also a meixnber of the Can- adian Order of Forresters. His friendly smile and amiable spirit will be greatly missed in this vil- lage, He is survived by one daugh- ter, Madeline, Mrs. R.uSsel King, and two sons, Percy, of Auburn, and Carl, of Hamilton; also six grandchildren and four sisters and two brothers, Jacob, of Highland Creek, Ezra, Hamiltton, Barbara, Mrs. E. Dennis, Blyth, Elizabeth, Mrs. James, Goderich, Evelyn, Mrs. Ziegler, Goderich, and Mrs. Bertha Lloyd, of Aberdeen, South Dakota. The L.O.L. held their service on Pri,day evening when 32 members marched to the funeral home. The funeral was held at the J. Keith Arthur funeral home on Saturday with Rev. D. J. Lane and Rev. Bren de Vries in charge. Interment took place in Ball's cemetery. Pall- bearers were Messrs. Thomas John- ston, Gordon Taylor, Murray Rol- Iinson, Nelson Patterson, Alvin Plunkett and Wilfred Sander -sen. Among the friends present besides his family were: Mr. Ezra Young- blut, Hamilton, Mr. Jacob Young- blut, Highland Creek, ,Mrs. John Mullins, Simcoe, Mr. and Mrs. George James, Mrs. Evelyn Zeigler and Mrs. Alfred Williams, of Gode- rich; Mrs. E. Knox United Church Picnic. — Knox United Church Sabbath School held their annual picnic at Seaforth Lions' Park last Friday evening with a good attendance. After eating a bounteous supper, sports and races were enjoyed. Albert Campbell received word of the passing of his brother- in-law, David Barcley, at Vancou- ver, last week. The funeral- took place at Limerick, Sask. He had resided for manyyears in West Wawanosh Township before going West. ;Besides his family he is survived by four sisters, Mary (Mrs. Cobb), Ida (Mrs. W. G. Kn-ox), and Margaret (Mrs. R. CONVENTION OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES DRAWS 23,000 More than 23,000 members of the Jehovah's Witnesses attended a convention at Toronto last week. Athong those attend ng .was a delegation from Goderich. On Friday morning, some 322 were baptized at Sunnyside 'Pool. On Sunday, Percy Chapman, sup- erintendent of ministers, spoke on the subject, "Healing of the Na- tions Has Drawn Near."
